Revolution Brewing (2021)

So they did make Deth's Tar in 3rd use Cognac barrels (after they used them for Mineshaft Gap the last batch) for a taproom only draft thing. I couldn't remember what it was called, but the internet tells me it was Le Petite Deth. It was pretty good, if I remember correctly. I don't remember it being overly sweet.

Did a quick search on here, and you are correct! Wish I could say I tried it, but hopefully they have another batch in the chamber...

 

So, this did make it out into the wild (in kegs), not just a taproom exclusive. Which is frankly bizarre. I’ve never seen something like that from Revolution, then or since. I wonder if it was part of their Sanctuary Series? I don’t know if those are ever supposed to leave the taproom.

 

Agreed on not being sweet. My memory was that it was noticably drier, more oaky tannins without as much of the spirit character.

 

The Sanctuary Series is literally when they fix a leaky barrel of beer by either transferring it to another barrel or some other method. Purposefully transferring beer into another barrel wouldn't qualify it for the Sanctuary Series and would potentially yield more than a single barrel.

 

My 08 December 2018 check-in to Le Petite Deth says "Umami Smoky."

Cannot recall what level my buzz was on at that point.

 

What a clever name. It might be my favorite of theirs so far, and they have so many.

I didn't realize that. The only things I remember about it were (1) it was pretty good, and (2) I landed on that one because someone else bought the last pour of one of the heavy hitters (I think it was some sort of double barrel or VSO-something) right out from under my nose, and I was a little salty about it.

It really is a good one. I didn't "get it" when I tried it a few years ago, but I did when I looked it up yesterday, which means I learned what "le petite mort" means sometime within the last 3 years.

It will be fun to see what other goodies/specials they have been holding onto and will put on draft in the coming weeks/months.
