In the mid 70's Michelob Dark was the keg we saved for last. That was also when the college didn't care about under age drinking.

I have never been a regular drinker of Michelob but over the years I have had it from the tap and always thought it was damn fine for a lager. But I was never crazy about it from bottles or cans.

I haven’t seen it on tap since 1974 or so, most of these kinda beers are better fresh on tap. I’d be in to see one around here.

The last time I saw it on tap was at a wedding in 1998. When I was in my 20's I used to go to a small bar where Mich on tap was the only beer they had. It was the only place where you could just order "beer" and not get a look from the bartender.

It was like that when I was growing up to some degree as well. Most choices on tap were Bud or Schaefer, some places maybe Schmidts, one bar had Heineken only one bar though, rarely Mich only one bar that I remember, a goblet was .25 cents.

I reckon that the last time I saw it on draught was in the early 90s at a dive bar; the only bar that had it in town. It was replaced by Blue Moon and I stopped going there.

I didn't hate it but guess what? It needs a pic. Don't wait for me to add it.

Not me, I hate Hoegaarden too. Tastes like sweaty sweat socks.

There are a couple of stores in my area that still carry original Michelob, but you have to be willing to hunt for it (similar to Miller Genuine Draft in rarity).

Why hunt? Both are products of the two biggest brewers in the US, I'd imagine every retailer in town deals with both the local AB and MC house and would be happy to order those beers for a customer.

So it is still being produced?

Yes, but not readily available on retailers' shelves in many areas. I personally can't find Michelob in my area (but plenty of the Michelob 'series' such as Michelob Ultra,...).

But as JK posted above you could ask you local beer retailer to 'special' order you some but for my local beer retailers they would likely require you to purchase a whole case.

    Cheers!

Area AB/InBev distributor here isn't bringing it in so retailers can't special order it.

Good point. If the local Wholesale Distributor chooses to not order Michelob then it is not available to retailers.

    So much for that idea!?!:flushed:

    Cheers!
