Going to be driving thru Denver in early April & hope to pick up some Bierstadt slow pour pils, helles, maybe others? Are those pretty much always available at the source or is it more hit or miss? Are they available in stores? Somewhere near/just off 25 would be ideal. Thanks in advance for assistance!

They should be available at the source. Not sure if they'll have all of their offerings, but they'll have several. Those cans aren't at all stores, but they're at several of the better ones. Grapevine, Mile High W&S, and Mr. B's would be good places to look.

Another thing I should mention is I'm hoping to load up a little (5-6 cases?) to make sure I have plenty to bring home & to hook up a couple buddies. Can anyone advise if that's a realistic goal?

If it were me, I would call the brewery to see if they can arrange it. Might also help you to offer to pay ahead of time.

I know people who have bought shitloads from them, but you should definitely contact them in advance to make sure everything is cool. I bet they'll love you for buying that much.

You can also buy online from them directly. Works for me every time.

I did the online order/pick-up for the first time yesterday since they just rolled out their Tmave Pivo. It doesn't seem like there's a limit to you what you can order, so you could easily order multiple cases of each item and they'll have 'em ready for you. They even had a "party pack" that's two 4-packs of each flagship item ready to go.

It's great. Always has been, even going back to when Bill was at Prost. Small details have changed, but it's still one of the kinds that has a ton of flavor depth going on. Figs, dates, molasses, etc. all coming from the malt. Lesser examples tend to be straight forward and sweet, without much else going on. Not sure if the Bierstadt one is based on a particular German example, but I know they're fond of Andechs and they regularly use that yeast.

Thanks for the input. I saw they had had cans of it to go. It's a helluva drive for me to get up there, just wanted to make sure it's worth it. I'm not sure I have had anything from Bierestadt that isn't worth the trek up from Castle Rock.

It isn't super close to me, either. Plus, all the construction around there is quite the headache coming from I70.
I normally just buy cans from Grapevine, but I dunno if they distro the seasonal items. I ended up just stocking up on everything to make the trip especially worthwhile. For what it's worth, I did a comparison of Blue Moon's Czech dark with Bierstadt's Tmave 13, and it was laughable. I honestly really like Blue Moon RiNo, but it was immediately clear which brewery specializes in European lagers.

I would say, even thought it's mentioned 4 posts above, that you definitely should not miss the Tmave 13. I'm on my second 4 pack...

Last night's dinner-cooking beer, intended for wbaydn but I forgot.

Looks like the Tmave 13 cans DID hit normal distro. Well, at least distro for the places that typically carry Bierstadt. They're well worth picking up and are probably the best (and most authentic) take on that style you'll find in the US. If you aren't familiar with it, it's essentially the Czech equivalent of a schwarzbier. More or less, at least. I actually prefer it to many German schwarzbiers.

Anyone know of a shop that would do a pre-purchase / hold cans until early April or is that unlikely? Chances its still available at Bierstadt a month from now??

It may still be there in April. 4-6 weeks seems pretty normal for their seasonals. If not, they'll probably have some other seasonal/limited option. I don't think any stores around here do pre-purchases a month out.

Can anyone help with some Bierstadt logistics questions?

    1) how's parking?
    2) will Easter Sunday afternoon be busy or slow?
    3) hoping to have a beer or 2 & maybe lunch on the patio, but may be pressed for time a little - if we want to order draft pours / food / cans / merch to go, and be on our way in a semi - efficient manner, what's best practice?

*haven't downloaded their app yet but my dream scenario is that we could just grab an open seat on the patio & order all of the above / pay from my phone... any chance it's that easy?

Is Bierstadt the best in the area for lagers? Will be in Denver for the first time this June to see Big Head Todd.
