This may be the first not-so-humble-brag about cellaring beers that I’ve ever seen

Gotta love cellaring a beer you’ve never tasted before. So much for drinking fresh.

I hope they both taste like sour vomit when you open them in 2037.

@Negt clearly knows better than Nate.

In all serious though, sometimes it takes a couple failed experiments to find out what time in a cellar does to beer and it's adjuncts.

His money, his choice to waste it however he chooses

Of course. Anyone’s choice. I just find the idea of cellaring a beer you’ve never had extremely foolish.

Guessing oxidation would be the more likely result when Negt opens it.

    Most likely, sure.

While Tree House has an impressive amount of experience packaging clean product, they have much less in regards to clean barrel aged product. I have pretty high confidence in their QC, but there's always the possibility of infection as well. Considering I had a completely flat Tree of Hope while many others reported different results, TH isn't perfect.

I always consider the possibility of infection to be way higher when it comes to young breweries, particularly breweries with less experience barrel aging beers, and too often I turn out to be right. As others have said, always open new, limited beers as soon as you can, and only sit on them if you have extra.

Those notes of extreme rarity will never fade. Auto 5/5 rating.

I don't have as much confidence in their QC and have definitely had some oxidized product from them. Over time and with lots of adjuncts and unfermented sugars, anything can happen (re your original 2037 comment).

Mine was basically still, but despite that, I enjoyed the beer. I didn’t find it strange that aspect wasn’t mentioned anywhere by Tree House as friends had a similar experience. I could see those never experiencing that before, hating it because of it.

While a little carb or extra body could have helped it, I still gave it a 4.21. Having had some nice, still BWs from other breweries, particularly Baladin, it at least wasn't offensive to me at all.

EDIT: I did find it strange it wasn’t mentioned by Tree House, not didn’t.

I’ll definitely wait 16 years, for sure.

Heaven forbid I keep them in the fridge for 6 months to a year. I know, such a waste of money.

I haven’t had these, but I’ve had plenty of Th ba stouts and barleywines.

Edit. One thing, is for sure, though. I will absolutely post, the next time I buy a ba brew and don’t drink it “fresh”.

    How many is 'plenty?'

They've only been releasing them for so long. They don't exactly have the barrel program comparable to breweries like Revolution or CW. Someone can accurately say they've had plenty of stouts & BWs from either.

Tree House is new to the barrel game

Real quick. When did I comment on the age of their “barrel game”?
