What's the restaurant/bar/brewery scene like these days? Is it pretty much just all take out? Or are some places open for dine/drink-in? And, if so, are they all pretty adherent to distancing and mask-wearing guidelines or is it just a free for all where you wouldn't even know a pandemic were going on? Any info is appreciated. I may find myself out there next month and am wondering if San Diego is a place worth checking out. I'm vaccinated, so am not really concerned, but I don't want to be spreading anything to anyone either.

    Thanks in advance.

Places are re-open for consumption. Some more freewheeling than others, as you would expect. Almost all of the big name breweries are outside only, mask required when not seated at table. Distanced tables, capacity limit per table, of course not like the tables are huge to begin with anyways. A few of the smaller ones DGAF. Food/purchasable meal ticket still seems to be required in order to order beer.

We are still in purple tier but looks like our numbers have been coming down significantly that we will then be shifted to red tier (I know..the color scheme is weird on this one, but red is considered good compared to purple). So good in fact that the Padres are going to allow restricted capacity starting opening day (yay!!!!).

If you prefer the safety/restrictions, I would hit up Lost Abbey, Alesmith, Modern Times (point loma location, encinitas location is iffy when they are open), and North Park Beer Co.

For beer bars/actual bars....I would recommend Churchill's, Bar Sin Nombre, and O'Brien's.

Everything I listed are all over the county, so I don't recommend driving to each one within a single day. =P

Edit: This info is only what I gathered from my friends that are vaxxed (or at least have had their first dose) and what I see as I go around picking up beers I ordered.

    W000 double post..

Here is a link to a google doc sheet that is user-compiled. The creator has been trying her best to keep it as up to date as possible, but with constantly shifting restrictions and vague wording by local and state government at times it is best to call within their listed open hours just in case.

Was this a member only bottle? Or a public sale I missed somehow.

Members got first crack, then it went public. I only found out because someone mentioned how easy it was to get this time.

So don't worry, it wasn't posted on their FB, no email went out, not on their main IG. Turns out it was posted on their less-followed tasting room IG that it is for sale to the public. That's it, you basically had to follow that one to know. I don't have an IG account and apparently you can't see the tasting room IG because it is age-gated and private...so you gotta follow it. Weirdness indeed.

Well, that explains why I didn’t even know the released this. I’m guessing it’s already sold out?

I’m planning on driving over there for a few days within the next month. I usually love staying near Mission Beach, and probably will again. My brewery experience there is pretty much limited to the Ocean Beach hood. I definitely will hit up Modern Times again. Would North Park be the best area to go for quality and quantity? I love WC ipas and BA stouts and porters. Thanks.
