    Well, I still didn't post in the porter tasting thread yet. I wasn't sure of the protocol -- does @FBarber kick it off with the first actual tasting of the day???

    But, yes, Bad Elmer is my first contribution for this weekend porter tasting. I'll add it soon enough...

    @tasterschoice62 - Loved your patio picture yesterday, would love to be in nature with a nice wooded area than the city which I have never been outside of for more than a few weeks. The grass is always greener, and while Chicago brews great beers, seriously jonesing for Heady Topper, not even regular but a single Chicago drop sometime before I die. God willing, I'll hit the source before then.

    Jazz Glass but Yacht Rock feels right with this pairing.

    My understanding was there would NOT be a separate thread for porter-tasting, just specific postings in WBAYDN and NBW. But hey, the only constant is change!

    My tasting notes from earlier this morning then for Upland Brewing Co.'s 'Bad Elmer' (American porter):

    4.25 3.75 4.0 4.25 4.0

    Rich, dark brown looking body; nearly black in some light; heavy, creamy, light khaki head. Gentle wafts of lightly charred grain, cocoa, and chocolate. Milk chocolate, grain char, and very light bitterness with the taste; subtle, delicate chocolate sweetness with a touch of baker's chocolate. Heavy body; smooth and silky along the palate; generally sweet mouthfeel.
    Bad Elmer exudes a classic American porter character. It's rich, nearly oily feel and flavors are top-notch and exemplify what a proper porter can be. It's a beautiful beer.

    Not too far off from my review of the beer in the BA database. I first had this beer years ago when stopping at the brewery on my way to Ohio. Loved the beer then, love it now. I even have a Bad Elmer bicycling jersey (one of my favorites).

    Anyway, I love it when breweries continue with a tried and true beer, regardless of style...
