So that doesn't eliminate NC then.

Well, it's been a tough two decades for my Hoosiers.

Excuse me while I go find a wall to smash into my melon.

Haul Hints have been dropped like "Hansel & Gretel" bread crumbs throughout this weekend's NBW by your beer nerd friend in Northern Indiana.

    Which is another hint. IJS.

Ha, it's funny because I always feel like my hints are just this close to dropping a 16 ton weight on their head indicating it's them. Though a lot of them would make a lot less sense to anyone to whom they are not aimed, as they often deal with very local geography, etc.

    Is that a hint? Maybe.

I love cold water fishing, this state is famous for that.

OK. For a less obtuse clue:
I have had roughly a half dozen beers from your state. Most from the same brewery, and most of which I received from participants of this here BIF other than yourself.
Never, to the best of my recollection, have I consumed a beer IN your state. I HAVE, however, been to your state, exactly once. I flew out of there after my brother-out-law's wedding, though we did not fly IN to there (FWIW, the wedding was located neither in your state, nor the state into which we flew, but that's not really pertinent to the clue).

    I think that makes #8?

Time to start explaining the hints, at least a bit.

First and foremost: I have three different types of hints. They do not all relate to my target.

One third of my hints relate directly to my target.

A second third of my hints target other participants directly ... and eliminate them.

The final third do not relate to my target. Instead, they relate to a target, and a completely different sender.

My hints are grouped in a recurring pattern, so you should be able to figure out which help narrow in on my target, which eliminate targets, and which are focused on a completely different target.

There: super easy; barely an inconvenience!

Both of these states are part of a region of the United States. I am not shipping to that region.

    Hint #2
I come from a family of steam rail buffs. Spent many an hour on small county roads, and hanging out along great bends in track and advantageous angles to view magnificent iron horses crossing trestles.
Luckily one of those grand beasts was retired to southern California, refurbished and now has occasional runs. She even made an appearance at my hometown's Railroad Days a few years back. My dad remembers riding her from LA's Union Station down to San Diego on a Boy Scouts trip.
Anyway, her fastest recorded speed was 103 mph. I'm thinking that's faster than my box(es) will travel. And they will travel past her departure point for her Chicago to LA run.

I have begun to develop a hunch. No, not from sitting in front of my computer too long, though that's probably not great either. Well, actually I guess it DID come from sitting in front of the computer and having consumed the last 13 pages. But I'm maundering. I have a hunch of which state originates my shipper, though that state has multiple potential options, and I cannot decide who of those options is most likely.

Of course I probably don't even have the region right, ha (or given some of the stealth participants: country!)

My Dad went to Purdue, so I’m not the “hate Purdue at all costs” IU fan.

IU was last in the tournament before I participated in my first BIF, and I’ve participated in quite a few BIF’s. How is that even possible? I’m flummoxed.

    @MacMalt

Ok, since it's basketball, I wouldn't have a clue. I have no idea if the Gophers are in the NCAA tournament. They are the closest to me.

You can tell how much I follow sports, which is pretty much not at all. I used to follow college hockey, and was a huge fan of the SCSU Huskies. Ever since the games stopped being on the local talk station I listen to a lot, I fell off that too.

Yeah, I'm boring. Though, boring and drinking some Crown Roayal my parents got Christmas of 1973 (when I was 6 months old). They never opened it, but I opened it up for the first time tonight, at my firend's place.

Crown can be aged, and be amazing after almost 50 years in the bottle.

    Enough ranting.

    More clues tomorrow.

Yes it was. They all enjoyed it. I don't have too much expreience with Crown, or whiskey in general, but they all do, and they all said it is a bit different than non aged. So smooth going down, then there's a burn that comes up on when it's going down your thorat.
    I like it.

    Haul hint sort of:
Some flavours can be incredibly divisive. Peat/smoke is one of those. There is a brew I'm considering including, but it's got a pretty heavy peat element to it. Like this post if that is a flavour that appeals to you and you would like it included in the box, if you were my target!
