I had several draft pours last night and the head was beautiful, almost like it was on nitro. I took this pic after walking it from the bar and having a few sips.... [IMG]

A number of folks posted about how nice Ten Year Beer is holding up about a month ago; I joined them in cracking one open and absolutely agree. I have a soft spot for cherry barleywines after Pipeworks' Cherry Murderous was one of my first eye-opening experiences with the Chicago beer scene after moving here from southern California. X is a stunner, and the cherry is still just as bold as ever.

I haven't had a VSOR in quite a while, unfortunately, and I think I only have two left. With Rev's new canning line investments from a few years ago, I would not expect much change at all from any releases that don't have additive flavorings. Anyone else have recent experience with a VSOR?

Unless I just don't see it, can't believe you don't have a VSOJ 4 pack. Disgraceful.

At this point can Rev. just do a membership that guarantee's you 1 curbside 4 pack of each DW release? I'm tired of seeing rave reviews on the stuff I missed out on.

Are you sure you want to see what all of those add up to? Versus being sprinkled over an extended period of time? :grimacing:

If you take my money up front to save me from the disappointment of Black Friday, most likely.

I definitely prefer the vague horror of adding up RevRewards points and then just pretending like I can't easily translate it back to $.

Oh, I KNOW exactly what they add up to. #SpreadsheetNerd

However, I think many breweries offer a membership where the guaranteed opportunity to purchase (not an obligation) is part of it, and maybe a lengthier pickup window. So perhaps a $600 fee to guarantee you one of each of the 12-14 four packs of Deep Wood that come out each year in addition to presale access?
Or maybe $300 to guarantee someone presale access to all releases and 6-7 four packs of Deep Wood beers.
There of course would still be the pre-sale available for the top rewards earners.
(do NOT take that away - I'm way too invested in that )

Deep Woods Mystery Pack update: got a 2020 Straight Jacket (always welcome) and the Half Acre collaboration, On & On! I was amped grabbing my #2 and #5 favorite beers from this year's releases.

Even more exciting: I spotted TikTok phenomenon @BeerCruncher as he left the compound (I was the weirdo on the bicycle). I clammed up since I've forgotten how to interact socially over the last year, unfortunately.

Also: the swag in these bags is getting over-the-top good; I got a slipmat for a record player, a hat, biking gloves...

So you're the guy that watched me standing there playing the daily game of: "Where did I park? Did I even drive today? Did I move my car to go to lunch? What d̶a̶y̶ month is it?

If I worked for Rev’s Finance/Accounting team, I’d promise to make sure the location of Doug’s vehicle was my number one priority :wink:

Alright I strung you along enough here. This was our first time doing a project like this and I don't believe it was representative of all the possibilities in the future. In the case of Thundertaker, we learned about the availability of the particular barrels we used which were super premium so there wasn't anything else to really poke around about at the time, in terms of alternatives. I believe that 2 year and/or double barrel versions would be in play for future collabs because they're well aware of the extra interest that those bring.

The pipeline of new ideas is incredibly strong right now, which needs to be balanced with the desire to bring back old favorites too, while of course always having approachable (including in price) options for new and more price sensitive barrel-aged drinkers. I really think my three favorites from last year were regular old Deth's Tar, Straight Jacket, and Ryeway. You'll be hearing from us very soon. Like, VERY soon.

I’d say, break glass and open up a can, but you are a little late for 3:16 day. I guess we just have to settle for a Glass O’Whoop Ass.

Many appreciate the commitment to keeping prices reasonable. Coupled with the excellent quality, it’s the best barrel program. Able to take a shot on most Deep Woods four packs without a preview pour due to the quality / price.

I thought Ryeway was the standout this year, and Deth’s Tar exceeded the already high expectations coming in. Apple is one of the few fruits I do not like, but took a chance on Apple Ryeway and I’m ecstatic I did. One of the most unique bodies I’ve experienced, Apple Brandy Barrels well incorporated. Thundertaker was also outstanding.

So glad you were also able to reopen the brewery, home the taproom will follow soon.

    Slainte!
