Marilyn Monroe singing Happy Birthday to JFK is something I never would have expected from someone of your age and nationality. Two thumbs up with a twist!! (see if you get that US pop culture reference)

Oh, it’s well known here. Despite that I’ve never landed at JFK, NYC. And yes, I knew about Marylin Monroe well before I started listening to that now older, creepy goth/metal guy.

Regarding my nationality, the French certainly are flawed and hold their fair share of stereotypes. Right or wrong. One of these flaw might be the drinking problem... cheers!

Well in response to DoctorZombie I figured I pull out one of my Imperial chocolate stouts. This beer was brewed four our beer club by Garrison out of Halifax. We had an interclub contest to choose the label design and I think a little fun was had by all.

2015 This beer is so smooth now, I get a little musty malt and dark fruit with dark cherry. Roasted malt and toffee lead to cocoa nibs on the finish. It's aging quite well, I have one every couple of years.

The story behind the winner as voted on by the membership. We were over 4000 members, over 1% of the drinking population in NL. The club work completely changed the face of beer in this province.

The first beer with my face on the label but not the last.

Panda are you talking about my De Molen glass? I only have the one but it is a nice goblet. I do my best to protect my glassware, a friend broke one of my Bolleke's but at least I have a 2nd and a pair of the small ones.

Met an old best friend from high school with Julia. Got some stuff moved in now. Got the red Robin 1969 lager. It's a good adjunct lager for sure. We are reminiscing a lot.

Prepping for lunch, and pulled out a pre Saint Patrick's Day Irish shot and beer for the Beer Advocate Tasting Thread, though a slight departure on the target Jameson / Guinness suggested pairing.

Guinness Nitro Cold Brew Coffee and a few oz of Paddy, my favorite Irish Whiskey.

Will perform a formal review for the Guinness Coffee Nitro Stout this weekend, as this beer is focused on the beer / whiskey pairing notes.

Also just finished devouring this fictional take of Bill Veeck's purchase of the 1944 Philadelphia Athletics and slating an entire team of Negro League players. Highly recommend for those who love baseball and history.

Funny name for a beer. Den Haag / The Hague is the place where I (normally) live. Yellow and Green are the official local colors (flags, socker-team etc.). Not the captial of the Netherlands (we all know Amsterdam is), but it is the seat of government in NL. Makes it a capital in normal live.
I'll buy this Den Haag from Hoppin' Frog when I see it
    Cheers!

Yes, the De Molen glass. Protect it well, this model is not in production anymore. The model probably, but not like a branded De molen glass.
    Cheers!

Time for another pick up last night from work.
First Frost from Portage Brewing - 5% ABV. Brown Ale.

    Not bad at all.

    3.71/5 rDev -0.8%
    look: 4 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Pours a nice clean clear brown color. 2 finger off white/tan head. Retention is good. Some lacing on the glass.
Nose is somewhat minimal. There's a bit of sweet, bread malts on the nose.
Taste - Sweet, bread malts, but a bit of cinnamon also. Nutty, and a bit of a roast flavor.
Ok, body. Not bad for this style.
Not a "session" beer, but easy drinking, and tasty.

Yeah it's kind of funny to think that glassware could gain value by being discontinued. I have a vintage Belle Vue glass too. Part of why there is no tile in my house floors etc and I would never get granite etc countertops. Softwood floors and old school crap countertops.

Good day Advocates. Since the brewer of this beer is located in the town of Middle Of Nowhere, Ontario, I have a high degree of certainty that this beer is new to the thread. It’s quite good. Cheers. [IMG] [IMG]
