Good afternoon! This Belgian pale ale with cascade and centennial hops from Perennial is an excellent way to end the workday. Cheers!

No pic, as it's been seen from me many times, but cruising with a couple of my go to Ransack The Universe from Collective Arts until movie time, which will be a little later than normal tonight. One big beer to pull out before Sobibor, which is the movie on tap tonight. Cheers.

Ok, back after a nap - I slept horribly last night - time for some juice.

[IMG] Tonight's Beer Tasting Lineup is a Blind Irish Taste Testing & Battle Beers! (2/3 of the pairs correctly identified)

    1) Guinness Harp Lager (4.5%): An Irish lager with bready and yeast lager with white bread and yeast flavors. Minimal hops.
    versus
    2) Dos Equis Lager (4.2%): A Mexican lager with light lemon hops atop a mild pale, crackery malt profile. Dry, clean, and drinkable.

    3) Sierra Nevada's Dankful IPA (7.4%): A west-coast IPA from California with strong lemon, lime, and green dish soap flavors. Herbal and bitter.
    versus
    4) Stone Delicious IPA (7.7%): A west-coast IPA from California that has strong grapefruit, orange, and nectarine flavors with a strong pine bitterness.
(Misidentified these two in the blind taste test)

    5) Guinness Draught (4.2%): The original Irish nitro dry stout with the traditional soft and creamy nitro body of a Guinness. Dry cocoa and roasted grains. Soft and clean.
    versus
    6) Left Hand Brewing Nitro Milk Stout (6.0%): Another nitro stout that pours with minimal head with a rich milk chocolate and cream flavor. Minimal roast. Chocolatey and creamy.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Winners:

    1) Guinness Harp Lager (4.5%): Hard not to win before St. Patrick's day, but this one drinks full and bready. Dos Equis was good too, but drinks more in tune with the summertime.

    4) Stone Delicious IPA (7.7%): A "delicious" IPA with strong grapefruit, orange, and nectarine flavors. Intensely herbal and bitter. When bigger and bitter is better, then this was the better beer.

    5) Guinness Draught (4.2%): This traditional Irish stout is hard to beat. Maybe less flavor than Left Hand, but also affords less alcohol, a lighter and cleaner body, and a much prettier pour.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you agree with Harp Lager and Guinness Draught being among the winners? Or maybe there's bias with St. Patrick's Day tomorrow.

Have you had Sierra Nevada's Dankful or Stone's Delicious IPA, and do you have a preference?

The "devil" is in the details. Hell yes, brothers & sisters. Even tastier in a Spiegelau. I need to get more, possibly a whole case. No BS at all. None whatsoever. I love you.

I need to let these dudes speak to me again. Such good shit. I am an emcee through and through, just ask @MUTINY; yet, somehow, this stuff always lifts my spirits. Even in the darkest hours. So again I'll tell you... NEVER FORGET!

    Trivia and anecdotal times...

Clear, dark brown body; thin yet lasting light khaki head. Faint malty aroma; some spiciness. Very nice chocolaty malt base with a fine chili pepper offset; moderate sweetness; graham cracker. Heavy body; thick and silky; excellent residual sugar feel; nice combination of chili pepper and alcohol warmth.

My tasting sample came from a crowler. Overall, I like the beer. It has respectable elements of chili, cinnamon, and the cacao nibs and vanilla beans. It doesn't necessarily do exemplary justice to any of these ingredients, yet they are there. Nothing super-sexy. Just a good if unassuming beer...

...poor Mrs. BeerGoot...had her second Moderna COVID vaccination shot yesterday and feeling miserable overnight and on into today...and her at the COS airport to pick up a good friend of hers now...she's a trooper...I get my first Moderna shot tomorrow AM...oughtta be interesting...

...until late this morning, when I heard the 'Mighty Manfred' on SiriusXM's 'Little Steven's Underground Garage', I had no idea that the originator of the following tune was from a band from my hometown - Mansfield, Ohio...hell, I was probably 10-years old when this came out, but I still am surprised I wasn't aware of this musical phenomenon in my own backyard (i.e., north central Ohio)...I mean, shit, Joe Walsh, Glass Harp, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Johnny Paycheck, Devo, et al...

...and if the Ramones covered it...well...

I remember the day when Earth Crisis was the biggest draw in hardcore, right after the Firestorm 7" release. Insane shows!
