We're officially off-topic here, but who were you supposed to see? I know they get some good acts there. Last metal show I saw locally was Pallbearer years ago. RIP The High Dive. Sad day.

I realized I got my stories mixed up. We were just had plans to hang out there. The show I was going to go to, but ended up doing another show instead that weekend, was Pelican in 2019.

Any murmurs on bells stouts or big beers for this year? BA expo? Black note? Big one off stouts or barleywines?

This year or next depending on timing there will be a variant of BBA Expo. Could be a tea, chocolate or double barrel version. Nothing else of note comes to fruition until after Oberon season for the most part, there is always the possibility but slim to no chance for the most part.

Please god not the tea one! After BCBS KY Fog I never need another beer that tastes like Good 'N' Plenty again.

Double Barrel BA Expo would definitely be a 'go get a loan from the bank and take a road trip to every well-stocked liquor store in MI' kind of a thing. Regular BA Expo is my favorite beer and goddamn if the 2020 release wasn't the deepest, smoothest year of it yet. A double barrel version of that in the 12oz bottles would be all I ever need to have in my cellar from now on.

Which all means that there will probably be some kind of an announced special release tomorrow.:wink::wink:

Double barrel expedition stout! I would lose my mind, that sounds so good. Rum, Rye whiskey, Port, or red wine barrels with Bourbon. None of this double bourbon barrel crap!

So, can we all just agree that 2 hearted is the best beer? After years of chasing and trading I personally have come to realize that when I want a flavorful beer I’ll just grab some 2 hearted from almost any store. I don’t care if I ever have another NEIPA or BA stout with whatever

Why not a mixed 4 pack with one of each? Or remember when they released BA 3rd Coast? How about those barrels 3rd use? Let's dream big here!!

Am I getting carried away? I haven't done a beer travel in so long don't ruin this for me.

It's funny you say this. Living here for all my beer drinking life and I've always loved Two Hearted. It was the first IPA I ever liked. It consistently ranks super high on lists and publications and here I'm just so used to it that I sometimes forget how quality it is.

Few years ago I started chasing these elite IPA's from around the country. Took me over a year to get a bottle of Pliney the Elder and SURPRISE......it tastes like Two Hearted.

Now I've pretty much tracked them all down including Heady and the Treehouse stuff and I still would drink a Two Hearted first. It's truly my "Desert Island" beer.

I may have to go buy some Two Hearted today. It's been a while for no good reason...

It's that time of year again when Bell's says hello to spring. Monday is the official Oberon release celebration at the Eccentric Cafe (although stores are permitted to start selling it today, and, yes, I have mine). Because of the pandemic, etc. Bell's is doing something different with a national TV broadcast via their own network (podcast?), Monday at noon, EDT. Sounds interesting and I'll probably listen in. Details are on social media and their website if you're interested. http://www.bellsbeer.com

I've got to air a small gripe. Bell's has to have one of the worst date coders when it comes to exterior packaging. Trying to read a packaged date on the exterior of a 4pk or 12 pack of Two Hearted, for example, is nearly impossible. Hey, I appreciate they are dating but, c'mon, make it a bit more legible.

No, just that the lettering is so tiny and coupled with the font choice makes it incredibly difficult to read imo. Especially with the dark green color of Two Hearted's packaging which negates most of any contrast with the ink.

I agree, I had to check the bottles next to the box of cans to see the date then realize it was this years batch

I forgot that i had another commitment, so I had to miss the podcast. But I didn't miss the Oberon donuts that a local donut shop makes in coordination with Bell's Oberon Day.

Mmmmm, Sweetwater's. I make sure I stop by there every time I make a trip to Kalamazoo. The same goes for Bell's and Ray Ray's.
