This is out of hand. Kuhnhenn bottles have historically been available for months after the release. It's location in southeast Michigan does not bring nearly as many out of staters and the date makes it more difficult to take away time from the family due to the holidays. Typically, getting there before noon gets you in the first 100. Most of the people who show up throughout the two days are regulars. I'm really hoping this doesn't turn into a shit show. All this talk of lining up for hours is turning me off to this event.

What he ^^^ said. Let's remember that last year that BB4D and BBBW were not distributed and so all of them were sold at the brewery and that process went on for months. It is likely that even without BBBW, the same will hold true for BB4D this year.

Another thing to consider. If many of you are taking your experience from 4Elf into this event, it is my belief that Kunhenn, with a smaller venue and less staff, will be even less prepared for the mass amount of people. Be warned. I don't want to see the forums filled with BA's complaining about a negative experience when they contribute to creating it.

NO, SAY IT'S NOT SO, KRIS KRINGLE!!! I have always found the staff to be prepared for any contingency and prompt with service with a smile

I don't understand why people are so concerned with what other people do. If someone wants to go line up early who gives a damn. It's their life. I plan on being there after my daughter's kindergarten Christmas party around noon.

If I remember correctly, last year the only things that sold out really fast was the bourbon mead and the French toast mead. Plus it seems that if the BBBW is a no show that's turning a lot of people off from showing up.

When will the new wave of BA'ers learn that you shouldn't announce what time you'll be at an event?

I think we should just lock this thread. Shut any hype machine down before Chicago shows up.

With all this talk of lining up and such, I realized that I have no idea what time the actual event starts. Anyone? Is it 11 a.m.?

Hey SteelerX -- this is how it works... If anything bad happens at an event in Michigan -- it was the Chicago people. And I was not there last year but was at Kuhnhenns over the summer and I heard the same story jacob notes almost verbatim from a couple of the locals. But its not like only having Kuhnhenn tap beer to drink is any hardship....

Fortunately for most people if you show up early inv Warren with a lot of cash you've got a high chance of being robbed. I for one plan on showing up once there is plenty of light out so more power to everyone who gets there early.

It takes more time for me to count out the money and hand it to the cashier and have them count it again, then give me change, than it takes to swipe a card, print a receipt, and sign it.

    Fuck cash.

WHAT WHAT WHAT??? That was the best part of last year. :slight_frown:

For small businesses and esp for the breweries I always try to do cash. Fast or not the cc people take 3-4% from the vendors for the cc purchase. Its an easy way of giving the brewery a 3-4% tip that probably costs you 1%.

It's 2.75% in the worst case unless they're getting hosed by a bad CC vendor. They're charging $7 a beer, so they keep $6.80 of that.

Fun fact - When they turn around and sell those beers at wholesale, they get about $3-4 a bottle for them. So I don't feel bad about using my Amex.
