Oh, I totally get that the decisions are likely data driven, and I'm glad they are. I just wish the data were different.

Not really excited about this release but I'll pick up a stovepipe can at some point. I am happy to have these single options to try things out.

Mind Haze is just alright to me, tried it once and never went back to it. May be due for a revisit and I would probably try a single of this as well. A side by side maybe?

But maybe Double Mind Haze is twice as good !?!

    Cheers!

Exactly this. I'm drinking a glass of it on draft right now. It's a well crafted hazy dipa from FW, which is no surprise. I'd be shocked if it was lousy, given my experience with FW beer. The finish is impressive as well, as I get none of the aspirin component I so often get in hazy IPA's and DIPA'S. That being said, there is nothing particularly outstanding or extraordinary about this hazy DIPA. It really is just another "hazy IPA." Which means in today's market, it will do just fine in the market place. Good on you Firestone Walker.

I should have stocked up on Pivo Pils! *facepalm*
I wasn't impressed with Mind Haze. Maybe it was too mild and low ABV, and this is the reconcilliation. 8.2% is reasonable and about the ceiling of where I'll drink an IPA, so I'm interested to try the Double Mind Haze.
Still not understanding getting rid of Pivo Pils with summer approaching.... It was one of the best German-style Pilsners to drink during the summer!

Well like Jack said, an employee said it was just.not selling. And Terrence from Sierra Nevada said the same thing about summer fest. I think that for these primarily ale brewers the opportunity cost of brewing a lager is so great and their scale so large that a lager that doesn't fly off the shelves isn't worth it. Luckily, lager focused, smaller breweries are popping up and often producing very good product

Hard to stomach that the opportunity cost of brewing a lager isn't worth it.

I just think, let's Firestone can brew 1.3 batches of mind haze in the time it takes to brew 1 batch of pivo, and the MH sells faster. At the scale their at you're looking at large 5 or 6 figure increases in revenue if you swap all pivo for mind haze

I saw Double Mind Haze in six pack cans last night. I'm good for the occasional IPA so I'll wait for the stovepipe, single option.

Yes, reportedly Pivo Pils was not selling well for Firestone Walker. I can anecdotally report that I personally would have purchase more Pivo Pils if I could find it in fresh condition on my local beer retailers' shelves (which I couldn't).

As much as folks like to discuss Firestone Walker producing beers like Mind Haze (and now Double Mind Haze) IMO their priority is to produce massive quantities of 805 beers.

    Cheers!

Just saw this. Huh, even in state it’s old shit, I don’t get it. Fresh Pivo is close to as good as it gets.

Ya the rest of this stuff is just brewers fun, I'm sure the bean counters would be happy.to.go to a strictly 805 brewing company

I thought the same thing: Union Jack and Double Jack are harder to find, with the latter even being discontinued for a time (IIRC), but then they've got Mind Haze?

I can't blame them; it's the consumer craze over hazy IPAs. If it sells, we have to expect that breweries will cater to the trend. But for me, give me Pivo, DBA, both Jacks, etc. over yet another hazy IPA indistinguishable from all the rest.

There used to be a special place in my heart for FW and I would make the several hour drive south at least once a year to Paso. That special place is gone and I haven't been to Paso in several years.

In my experience, the barrel house is Buellton still has that special old FW feel. But I only stop once in a while if I'm already passing through

If it’s fresh Double Jack can stand with any others beer being brewed, but they have a major distribution problem of beers in state are old product.
