Bought a 4 of the DC DDH Hop Showers but haven't cracked one yet. Hopefully that is a good throwback. I had a 7th Sunday night and its drinking real well. I stopped at the OG taproom Sunday afternoon and had a few pours. I thought the Triple Broc w/ Phantasm was good but not worth me buying a whole 4 of it at 10.5%. They also were giving out some bottle pours of the Maple Barrel Pastrytown and I really enjoyed it. Sweet but not overwhelming, I would def enjoy splitting a bottle with someone. Was nice to be back in the taproom for a pour and chatting with the bartenders for a bit! Looking forward to the eventual post COVID meet up!

I had the most recent batch of Mylar and agree it is meh. I also visited the taproom Sunday and tried the Hop Monsoon which I enjoyed. As far as the Pastrytown stouts, I had the Mint on tap and that was nice and recommendation worthy; my bottle of BA Billion was fine but tasted like so many other stouts I couldn't recommend it unless you're ticking boxes.

I've poo pooed many a batch of Stacks, but bought the 2-22 cans at a nearby shop recently and am very pleasantly surprised! There's a lot of lemon lime, almost to the point that I'm drinking a cleaner, but it's tasty.

If you are looking for a beer that has little to no melon, grab the DC Hop Showers. Had one last night and it was really enjoyable, reminded me a bit of older OH with the aggressiveness tuned down a notch.

Is that the one that’s been showing up in distro in NJ? If so I was close to pulling the trigger on it like 3 times but avoided for fear of melon.

I am not 100% sure, I rarely go to any liquor stores and I got these from the brewery. These have a 3/16 (hard to read) date on the bottom and it has the DC address if you look at the side of the label, also the OH logo is in a triangle

As in, you'd rather drink the fresh dredgery of the Gowanus Canal or like "yeah maybe 3.75 but certainly not regretting drinking this over the Bud Lime-A-Rita my dipshit brother-in-law bought me cuz he heard I like fancy beer"? Did you go full @jrnyc and put it in a SuperSoaker and spray your most hated enemy? Or did you cooo-vay that shit with a nice Steel Reserve to see what might happen a la @algebeeric_topology, for science?

I'm a huge fan of hot takes (paging @crowlcrowlcrowl and perhaps myself pre-Tose Test #quoteyoself #rauchbierfan33) but the lack of details here make it lukewarm at best.

Amazing. This thread is coming back to life. You know this guy can’t even tell the difference between an IPA and a stout? Certainly not a fanboi - just a connoisseur/critic of hot takes.

Listen here chicken fucker -- I mean, what else is there to do the suburbs? -- I can tell the difference between an IPA and a stout. It's not my fault Napoleon's former butler mixed up which glass was which during the test. Also lactose is the work of the devil, we aren't evolved to consume cow's milk. The space lizards of QAnon/Scientology fame have really done a number of you joose lovers.

Accurate. Fanboi'ing doesn't begin until you get below 4.5%, as @jrnyc taught me.

Nothing like going down route 18 in east brunswick, NJ and picking up DDH Hop Showers at my favorite beer store. It's tasting mighty fine.

$29 plus tax for a warm Triple Cream at a Total Wine outside of Milwaukee. Think the anyone living in the drunkest state in the Union knows what a drain pour is?

HDHC All Citra Everything is a total yeasty melon bomb. I literally would not be able to tell this beer apart from the last 4 or 5 Other Half IPAs I've had, all with different hop schedules. It's not bad per se, just totally indistinguishable in a way that minimizes the fun of chasing after the more hyped releases. Because of the yeast esters (which completely overpower the individual hop characteristics), they're starting to all taste the same.

I guess mainly thanks to this forum, when I look down at all the many different OH IPAs for sale, I just think to myself that they all taste the same melon but you get to choose what color can and what can design you want!
