Mrs. Z is up and I’ve been preparing her breakfast...I’m slowly moving her from a soft post abdominal/bowel surgery diet to introducing a new more substantial protein each day...so far, so good...she feels and looks great!

Jr. Z just arrived to visit with his mom (read do his laundry at Zombies’ Laundromat)...

Me? I’m drinking a new to me beer from a new to me brewery - Dancing Gnome, Pittsburgh PA, “Lustra”:

A winner! I’ve wanted to try some brews from this P’burg brewery for awhile, and so far the hype is warranted. Tasty light bodied hazy IPA with great grapefruit and pineapple nose and taste. Looking forward to trying more in my fridge. Cheers y’all!

There's Laaaaarge, and then there's Ginormous. This locally brewed, locally named imperial stout is over the top with a combination of barrels and heavy-handed adjuncts. I'm really enjoying it, but my palate and my insulin cannot take anymore than this one pour in a single sitting. I'll be finishing up the other half of it tomorrow.

A-Looks like a big bold stout, also with prodigious khaki head that persisted quite long for the high ABV.
    S-caramel, coffee, rye barrel
T-Above average sweet even for the style. Overly rich chocolate, some coffee and the rye barrel is more present than the bourbon. I'm not picking up the maple syrup barrel. Maybe a little dark fruit sweetness and licorice on the aftertaste. Some char bitterness helps to slightly offset the nearly cloying sweet.
M-Best part of the beer. Full body, viscous and chewy. The 15% ABV heat is there with some astringency, but not as boozy as you might expect.
O-Very different barrel notes, but a bit over the top with the massive amounts of chocolate and coffee otherwise its taste score would have been higher.

Last time I bought a crate almost all of them were gushers. Now carbonation seems on point.

Good afternoon advocates. Currently sipping on the Vegan by Fidens. Their releases are getting out of control now but I'm glad that they're thriving cheers

Embers Only, a smoked lager by Noble Beast. Sean makes great lagers and this one is very smoky. Onto the last two WandaVision episodes. Cheers!

    @FBarber
Wonderful side-by-side! After all that, make sure you do not take a mid-day nap (the most dangerous game!). You're in for a penny, in for a pound at this point.

I feel I could guess each beer just by your description of the nose. I'd love to repeat the experiment, but I think all I have right now is Panther Cub and KBS, and I don't think it would be remotely difficult given only those two beers. Throwing in CBS and Mackinac gives you enough of a gradient - the in-between flavors that tie them all together - that it's a much better and more challenging side-by-side the way you did it.

Cheers and thanks for the read!

Well it's all about how much you eat in the long scale(weekly). I mean I usually eat one meal a day anyways and try to cut it at 1800 cals for that meal. And I also work on me feet 8 hours a night, so I have been slightly losing weight since I moved to Ohio. Scared to step on the scale after all that salt for breakfast though lol, maybe tomorrow. Cheers

Not that it matters much, but I like the original's label more, too

I actually have a few bocks in the fridge right now, but the online tasting thread is still like a month away :slight_frown:

Hopefully some last that long, @TongoRad

    Self moderation is overrated

I've been called a lot of things in these threads, but that is not one of them. Except in adjective form before a pejorative.

Only Mostly possible because the GF gets to take some of the alcohol hit. Still waiting for a time we can enjoy something similar in the future.

    Cheers, all!!!

Oh, side note: there was some left in each bottle so I combined them - one with a little bit Mackinac, one without. The non-Fudge had that "canceled-out" feel many cuvées have. The one with a splash of Mackinac was a better mix, even though the fudge aspect kinda drove things.

Did you say Pub Crawl? You may be crawling before you make your next stop. How many more stops do you have? Ending badly may be an understatement with the start you're having.

Yeah, my descriptions did hint at my ultimate guesses. I do wonder what a fifth addition - the cuvée I did, for instance - would have had on my success toady

    Cheers!
