Going to do a trial run with our other Pit tomorrow. Just kind of a walk by with both so they can get each other’s scent. That out to be fun, they both have major anxiety.

 

Moving onto a regional pale ale I am trying for the first time.

 

I miss Hop Ranch. First time I had that beer I was blown away as a newbie into craft beer.

Found some today , canned 1/29/21 - freshest* I've ever seen it, & in the cooler shelves, so pulled the trigger.Decent stuff .
*Apparently , they haul it via wagon train, from N Carolina.

( Intended to get Hop Devil , but that was a week from BB date, & not refrigerated. Golden Monkey & Sour Monkey were, but HD & Dirt Wolf [no date] weren't. The only IPA in the store with a good date was STierIPA[not refrigerated] , but wasn't in the mood for that. )


Soil is unfrozen, at least in the raised beds, so got to yank the dead kale (left 4 live ones in another bed, for the kale raab, & to eventually flower & produce seed), add new compost (saved it last fall) , & plant some cold-tolerant greens.


40' log right through my sunniest spot, so growing on top of it, where I can.
Lost my chainsaws to theft & flood a few years ago , & moved here summer of '19 - had to just pile compost on top of tree-root-laden ground, to not make the year a total gardening loss. Hey, it worked! & the birds love the log.



Got some coleus cuttings potted , & shallot,leeks, & scallions sown. A week or so late, but the seed companies are swamped by pandemic newbies, so ...forgetting about that ...ordering like normal, I had to wait a bit for seed. Should be OK .
