Love that beer. Proclo is one of the few that consistently brews great big IPAs. Cheers!

My first New Beer this Sunday is Fruity Mornings, a Sour Pipe Project offering from Vitamin Sea brewing, and dropped off on my doorstep thanks to the generous @WunderLlama .

Clearly inspired by Fruity Pebbles, this was initially listed as a Sour - Gose. I started laughing out loud.

Anyway, this is another fruited sour, and I expect it to be delicious. The real question is: will it still taste like a beer?

Well, it looks like a beer, albeit one with very limited head production and poor retention. It smells like a sweet breakfast cereal with a touch of sour tang.

Taste is similar. There's barely enough sourness/tartness to even qualify as a fruited sour. The emphasis is on sweet fruity notes (not even particularly tied to berries; just light fruit across the board) and on grainy cereal tones. Light on the palate and absolutely crushable.

This is a sweet breakfast cereal in a glass (minus, thankfully, the milk). This is definitely the kind of beer that is going to turn some people off; it's certainly gimmicky. However, it's also truth in advertising, and as for the concept, they absolutely nailed it. And while it barely qualifies as a beer, it more than qualifies as delicious.

More basketball today, so that means more beer for me. Oral Roberts/Arkansas was an exciting game, with a 15 seed almost getting to the Elite Eight.
I haven't had much Lagunitas lately, so when I saw StereoHopic on the shelf, I knew I needed to try it.
A clear gold color with a one inch off white head. A bit of sticky lace.
Fruity aroma, both citrus and tropical. Sweet malt.
Grapefruit, mango, melon taste. A little pine.
    Nice bitterness.
    Good beer.

Up next, and my final new beer from the SweetWater mixed IPA 12 pack I got at work.
    H.A.Z.Y. IPA - 6.2% ABV.

The name should tell it all here, and it does. I do like this beer, and it is a lot better than the last, because it's in the ball park for the style. I'm liking this beer.

Pours a lighter golden color. Very hazy and murky. There's a minimal white head, less than 1 finger. The retention is ok, and minimal lacing.
The nose is a nice citrus hop aroma. Mango, pineapple, grapefruit hit me.
Taste - like the nose, there's a nice mango, grapefruit, pineapple flavor here from the hops. nice and tropical.
The body is decent. Somewhat juicy feeling. Somewhat creamy.
    Delicious IPA!

Happy Sunday all! Kicking my day off with a new American Pale Lager collab from Trillium and Kent Falls Brewing called Grainshed.
looks pretty dull in that pic, gloomy dark day here, probably should've put the light on
    [IMG]

Pint can dated 03/17/21 pours into the glass a mostly clear yellow gold color with streaming bubbles and a creamy white foam head that lasts with decent retention and lacing.

Smells a bit fruity and estery like pears and apple skin, nice bready crackery doughy biscuity malt aromas, touch of corn grain, hint of earthy grassy hops with mild spice and floral qualities, pretty clean and nice.

Tastes pretty crisp and clean, grainy corn notes, biscuity bready lightly toasted crackery malts, maybe a touch of chalkiness, light hints of apple and pear, grassy floral earthy noble hops, mild spice, some dry bitterness comes in at the end, pretty flavorful and clean.

Feels lighter medium bodied, creamy and smooth with moderate carbonation. Not really as crisp as I was hoping for, still crushable though.

Overall this is a pretty nice pale lager. Glad I have a few more of these to drink when in the mood. Nice light corn taste with the Pilsner malts, definitely not too much corn, nice traditional noble hop taste, refreshing, fairly clean, I'm liking it. Cheers everyone!

Good afternoon NBS/NBW and thanks @JackHorzempa for hosting this weekend.
A beautiful Saturday and now a cool rainy Sunday. Todays offering is from our good friends at Berkshire Brewing. Ireland Forever Ale is very good. A welcome addition to the world of
I-II-IIIPA's that dominate the retail shelves. Lite caramel touch, solid malt forward with a kiss of earthy hops. Just right on this Grey rainy day.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated 03/04/21 into the test glass
A - Beautiful ruby tinted backdrop, Excellent clarity, carbonation feeds a loose knit soft froth
S - Sweet malts, a whisp of earthy hops, a touch of caramel
T - That caramel was first out of the gate, add a bit of toffee, and soda cracker.
M - Medium on body, semi sweet start quickly centers to neutral, a lovely feel, with a dry finish
O - A very good red ale, malt focused but avoids being overbearing, the hops seem to be continental, Fuggles or EKG is my guess. Very drinkable and very tasty

[IMG] Poured into a 16 Snulip glass canned on 3/16/21. Pours a very attractive purple pink with a 2 finger sticky pink head that leaves a thin wall of lace with excellent retention. 5

Aroma blueberry, blackberry, and lemon straight and to the point but really nice. 4.25

Taste follows blueberry, blackberry, and lemon a little sour, but pretty balanced. 4.25

Mouthfeel is above medium, not sticky or dry, plenty of carbonation, and at 6% it drinks bigger but easy going down. 4.5

Overall they keep crushing this series. Some of the best sours going have come from this. Really a great brew. 4.25

I hear yah. You could say that the BA Kona listing isn't exactly accurate... so using it to measure state "ticks" is akin to using a ruler with 11 inches in a foot to figure out how tall something is. While doing so doesn't make any sense to me, there must be analogous things in my life where I do exactly the same thing too.

Just because I find this stuff interesting: I'm under the impression that "Hawaiian Kona" and the "global brand Kona" are the products of two different companies at this point. There are actually two different websites with two different legal copyright owners - konabrewingco.com for Kona Brewing Co.... and konabrewinghawaii.com for Kona Brewery LLC. BUT, the websites link to each other, share content (and a logo), and are clearly designed to be compatible. Monopoly prevention aimed at companies as large as AB InBev clearly make some um... interesting business compromises. I wonder how much the owners of Hawaiian Kona need to work with AB InBev for cross brand synergy. My interpretation of all this could be way off though. @jesskidden

Thanks for the post and gonna dip my toe in this thread as I took home two new craft beers this weekend. Yesterday actually, and I am still quite buzzed this morning!

Metier Brewing in Woodinville, WA, WA’s only black owned brewery.

I ended up tasting three beers.

the Czech style Pilsner which is a new beer for them. A very clean taste; mild and totally refreshing. Tasted at the location and then got a freshly canned growler to go...mmmm. Freshly canned before my eyes! Dated about 30 minutes before I popped the top and poured two pints.

also tasted the Ramble On smoked lager which is a collaboration with another local brewery -Bosk.
This one was strong and not as Smokey as I would have liked. I did not order the growler to go.

me kiwi only had eyes for the NZ IPA
Made with NZ hops and super mild for an IPA
At only 4.9 abv this IPA is tooooooooo drinkable. Haha. That growler went quick. I can see much more of that in the fridge!

    cheers to Metier Brewing!

    I’ll be back!

Sticking with the same brewery (and same sender in @WunderLlama ) for beer #2: Vitamin Sea's Kettle Charge, a hazy IPA that clocks in at a modest 6.8% ABV.

Vitamin Sea seems to focus on two styles (at least, based on what I've been sent, as all 9 fall under these two styles): fruited kettle sours and NE-style IPAs. (A quick perusal of their beer list on BA suggests maybe 2 beers that aren't a fruity beer or an IPA of some kind.) Fortunately, they do them quite well, especially NE-style IPAs.

This one is certainly no exception.

It's about as attractive as a hazy, completely opaque IPA can be; honestly, the only place I can sacrifice points is that in a clear IPA, I can really judge the liveliness and purity of the brew, whereas an opaque brew hides those qualities. I'm not sure if I can give a hazy IPA a 5.0 in appearance, but this is as close as I've seen.

Aroma is a bit muted, not exactly bursting at the seams, but it's quite nice, featuring a bit of bright herbal oregano and mild earthy pungency along with more traditional citrus and tropical fruit notes.

Plenty of pale doughy malt sweetness along for the ride on the palate, with hop notes of oregano, pineapple, mango, lemon zest, white grape, and earth. Very tasty.

As expected, they nail the mouthfeel, which is simultaneously soft and lively.

    Excellent brew overall.

Same here. IIRC, I had it at a "craft beer bar" in Boise ID in 2006 or 2007 at the suggestion of one of my early "beer sensei's." It just about knocked me off my bar stool.
