i agree but i disagree. i personally love all of the unique porters that come with the cold winter air, and as for the pumpkin craze... rivertowns pumpkin ale was the only decent one i had this year(out of about 20 drank), so i can see where that would get annoying.

I had a debate with a friend; are bocks considered christmas or spring seasonals? or both?

Not here. I am not a Belgian fan, much at all, however I like many holiday beers quite a bit. Is Fantome Noel a 'Christmas' beer? Didn't care for that at all.

Not a bad call. I might need to get some of that soon, assuming I can find a fresh package of it. (Why they use a nine-month freshness period is beyond me. Just gimme a canning date and I'll be happy.)

I never said people who like holiday beers like Belgian beers, I said the inverse of that. There is room for you in my philosophy!

Yes it is. But the recipes for all Fantome beers change year to year, from what I have heard.

Sounds like you're just not in to spiced beers. Not a crime at all; but don't stop trying new ones. Maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised someday.

I love belgians (delirium, duvel, orval, etc) and have not had a single christmas spiced beer that I enjoy. the only holiday type beer I've enjoyed is pumpking and that is simply because I like those kind of pumpkin themed flavors/spices. I really HATE excessive juniper in beers and I think that is why I just can't dig christmas themed beers.

Hmmm, there may not be room for you in my philosophy. If you love Belgians, you should love all of these Christmas beers (just for starters):

    Corsendonk Christmas Ale
    Scaldis Noël
    Tsjeeses
    Père Noël
    Avec Les Bons Voeux

Have you tried any of these?
