Feeling good enough to have a couple from @FrankenMiller

Went with the hoppy beer from the box first and it's very nice.

Yeah, UPS is our poorist deliverererer. Their drivers are stealthy and never, NEVER deliver a package to the actual door - one rainy day they left $300 worth of books in the driveway. FedEx and USPS may not knock but at least they leave packages close to the door.

We lived in Minnesota for 18 years (1999 - 2017) and our son still lives in Minneapolis, so I still consider Minnesota "local." We've been to Surly many times over the years, both the original brewery (in a factory) and The Mothership, which opened at the end of 2014.

That's when I got my original Surly tulip glasses. I use them a LOT, and the glass you have is one of 4 I ordered in February after my original 6 had dwindled to 3 through various excruciating breakages.

I got tired and lazy last night and forgot to post this easy drinking Cellarmaker IPA from @Dimidiata. Turok Juice was smooth with some Mosaic berry notes. Thanks, Christine!

Tonight's first round is the last beer in the ninja box that @jdell15 sent my way - Stagger Homeward by Great Raft. This is a full bodied imperial milk stout with some dark chocolate notes and a bitter, dry finish. Thanks, Jake!

Absolutely no offense meant to anyone else in this thread, but your pictures are always my favorite. Love the plants/candles you always have around them. They just make the pictures look really nice.

My targets state had a firm hand in the founding of this country, there were many battles fought here.

I like to fill the inside of the glass with newspaper/bubblewrap too. Not sure if it actually helps.....

Many thanks! I used to play around with photography in a former life, and the pandemic has made me put more thought into my staging. My wife is totally to credit for the decor that I have to work with, but I've become the official caretaker of the plant.

I do the same. I think it only helps my shipping anxiety, but, as far as I know, all glassware I have shipped has made it intact, so why mess with something that works?

I stumbled upon a potential solution for sending intact glassware- wrap it in bubble wrap and place it in an oatmeal carton. They are cylindrical and fairly sturdy.
My target will have to let us know if it works.

(acknowledging you were obviously joking) You wouldn't guess it to look at ME, but my kids are actually all pretty damn healthy, we're trying really hard to avoid letting them inherit my bad food habits.

That said, "a small child's worth" is no small amount of beer.

I’ll do my best to adequately explain what happened here tonight. It’s more or less safe to use the porch again, and I finally got the news crews and the gawking neighbors to leave. I don’t mind the news crews so much but I really don’t like the gawking neighbors (except Micah and Dawn, they’re OK). Anyhow, there was literally 100lbs of boxes waiting for me after work. No joke.

I brought everything inside and waited for the obligatory cat scan followed by a thorough lab report, then started unboxing (it took awhile).

Box no. 1 was from NH, one @smanson56 . This was a secret LIF prize, advertised as some ‘bourbon samples and maybe a few beers.’ Behold:

The bourbon samples he handcrafted himself (!) and have aged 2 years in/on charred white oak. Can’t wait to try them.

As far as the ‘few beers’…

    Foam Pavement IPA
Barreled Souls Port BA Bombs Over Barley
    Barreled Souls Sticky Fingers
    Barrel Souls Cluster F%*k
    3 Fonteinen A&G 17/18
Trillium BA Double Pot & Kettle w/Vanilla
    Trillium BA Danish Gentlemen
    Trillium BA Observing Reason
    Foam Desolation Angels 4
Barreled Souls Dark Matter (Chocolate, Coconut, Almond)
Barreled Souls Honey Pot w/Almonds Wheat Wine
    Foam Pop Crimes IPA
2 x Evil Twin NYC The Great Northern BA BW

And this was a LIF, a secret one at that! Sandy, that’s an over-the-top selection and truly a new bar!

Next, boxes no. 2 and 3. These were from Seattle and @kemoarps , whose graduate-level hints kept me baffled until the bitter end. Actually, I’m still baffled by a few of them. I might also add this was one of the finest packing jobs I’ve ever seen. First the bottles, there’s a lot of wax:

    pFriem Chuck’s 10th Anny BW
Reubens Brews Three Ryes Men BW
    Fremont Dark Star
Fremont Coffee, Cacao, Vanilla Dark Star
    Fremont Cinnamon Coconut B-Bomb
    Fremont B-Bomb
    Holy Mountain Well of Souls
    Holy Mountain The Goat
    Postdoc Mexican Cake Demon Star
Urban Family Bottleworks Port BA 22nd Anny
    Ferment Woodsman Porter
    Machine House Dark Mild
Also, a Mystery Beer, cool Ravenna Brewing T, organic chocolate bars, cheese (Cheese!!), beer chocolates and stickers

The remaining goodies looked like this:

    Burke-Gilman Troll Tarer
    Burke-Gilman Ty’s Triple Tipple
    Block 15 Sticky Hands
    Reuben’s Brews Blimey That’s Bitter!
White Bluffs Nectar of the Gods
    Watts The Leafcutter
    Headless Mumby Smoked Rye Lager
    pFriem Pilsner
    Urban Family Dragon’s Wrath
    Ravenna Wishing Fountain
    Ravenna Altered State
    Structures Seeing Things
Wayfinder Gravity Drop (another for Baltic Porter weekend)
    Matchless Bar
    Matchless Bar – Hazelnut
    Mirage The High Window
    Cloudburst Seems Plausible
    Matchless 3rd/4th Anny BW
    Stoup Robust Porter
Local-roasted coffee (grinding this in the morning!)

Crazy right? A spectacularly curated assortment of styles, with 19 new (for me) breweries and 31 new beers. Kestrel, this is just an insane collection - I can not thank you enough.

So no, with all this it’s not likely I’ll be able to sleep tonight. Thinking instead I’ll spread all these out on the living room floor and lie amongst them like a childhood Christmas. And as I lie there, pondering human altruism, I’ll be thankful and amazed at the incredible generosity of the folks here on BA. Gentlemen, thank you both!
