I grabbed a couple crowlers last week. I saw cans at Beer Temple today while I was back in my old neighborhood, but held off as I'd rather buy them from the brewery themselves.

Yeah, looks like they are slowly expanding distribution as well. I grabbed a can each of the helles, pils and the maibock. Looking forward to trying them.

God damn it. The wife is NOT gonna be happy when she finds a second beer fridge in the basement.

Very glad to hear the profile pic was a pleasant surprise! I’m enormously jealous you got to see them on the Rings tour! Good know there are more SFA fans on here.

Speaking of Pipeworks have they released their Schwartzbier lately? I found it randomly in a shop a couple years back and have been dying to have it again ever since. I missed it last year and probably missed it again this year. Do they release it as a seasonal or do I just have to get lucky and stumble across it again?

Since you're out in Downers Grove or thereabouts, you should check out Orange and Brew, in downtown DG. Pretty nice local shop, good draft offerings, you can buy singles, and owner and employees are all super nice and helpful. It's my go-to and has been since it opened ~2 years ago (maybe 3? I can't remember).

Already been there a couple times, but thanks for the rec. I have a couple friends in common with the owner that recommended them to me. I used to live about a mile from Beer Temple, so Orange and Brew is a pretty good substitute.

Saw them at the Abbey Pub on that tour, which holds maybe 400-500 people? Pretty great show, then they came back that fall at the Metro. Great live band, and Gruff is a lot of fun on his solo tours as well.

Finally got over to Goldfinger and tried the 5 beers they had available: Pils, Bohemian Pils, Lager, Vienna Lager and Maibock. I would have to agree, these guys are legit. All of the beers were good to great and I would put them up there with Dovetail as my favorite lagering crew.

The Lager in particular was awesome and I may need to do a side-by-side with Dovetail's to see which one I prefer...no losers in that race!

For the record I emailed them this same question right after I posted this last week and got nothing.

Another winner from Goldfinger with Chela Chido! They continue to highly impress me, quickly becoming a frequent stop! Nice and light, perfect for any reason to have a beer.

    Yup!
And they have 6 beers on draft right now for those wondering if they should make a visit, just do it!

You guys convinced me to get a couple Goldfinger cans, I picked up the original lager and maibock. I ended up having the maibock last night and was honestly not very impressed by it. I had also gotten Dovetail's and had it after the Goldfinger one and it blew it away.

I'll have the original lager either tonight or tomorrow and report back.

Havent had the Goldfinger maibock yet ... but last year's dovetail maibock was the smoked version that was so good. Curious how this year's dovetail maibock is ...

I think the Goldfinger original lager is better than the Dovetail original lager, so I will be curious what you think.
