    Maybe Kinslahger or Dovetail?

Between DT, Metropolitan, Art History, and now GF, we lager heads really have an abundance of riches in Chicago. (Plus one for team DT though )

I picked up a 6 of Metropolitan Heliostat Zwickel - canned 4/8 - at the Naperville Binny’s. It’s phenomenal. I haven’t reviewed anything for a while, but may do so for this one. However, it disappears from my glass too quickly for me to take notes.
I’ll be picking up some more.

I hope to get to Goldfinger soon to see what the buzz is about. I did see that they have a Grod

(posting and edit failures abound for me today)

..... [grod]ziskie on their list of upcoming beers. I miss Off Color’s 15 feet, so I’m hoping to try the Goldfinger. I’m not optimistic that Off Color will be brewing theirs anytime soon.

Speaking of Off Color, I had Town Musicians Maibock- nice, but I like the zwickel more.

Ugh. Having moved the suburbs, I haven't found the Dovetail Maibock out here. So on Sunday I took my kid to the Old Town School for his last music class in Lincoln Square and decided to stop by Dovetail to grab a couple four packs (along with a couple others). Got all the back to Downers and discovered that instead of the Maibocks, I got two four packs of the original lager instead. I mean, I'll drink and enjoy them, but pretty disappointed. Have to drink a Town Musicians instead, I guess.

If you’re in DG, there’s a zone 9 drop on Thu. Get that order in ASAP!

You know, I’ve read more “Italian Pilsner” threads than anyone should subject themselves to and I still have no idea what the term means, but this beer is just stupidly delicious:

Beer Cellar and Open Bottle (I work 10 mins from one, and live 5 mins from the other, hence I follow both) both got DT Maibock, so I’d check Orange and Brew if I were you

Hopefully it worked, but I probably did it wrong. I ordered delivery and it makes it seem like it's coming today, even though tomorrow is the drop. Then on the confirmation emails, it says nothing about delivery or my address, but gives the hours they're open for pickup. And no delivery fee, which I kind of assumed if it's a drop, but then I shouldn't be getting it today? I'm confused.

Don't worry it did the same thing the couple times I put in an order. its just a byproduct of the system they use.

Huge props the folks at Dovetail! Just got my delivery and they more than made up for the other day's mishap. That's pretty awesome service, and very much appreciated.

Full disclosure: I hated beer until I was 30, based on the shitty versions of German styles that I had (Bud Miller Coors etc.). It wasn't until I had a porter that I started to get into beer, so the German tradition -- however bastardized by American conglomerates -- isn't my bag, baby. Not Germany's fault, I'm just working backwards here.

I had the Goldfinger Original Lager. Very tasty. Fresh bread, mild tart lemon & faint clove funk. Easy to drink (pretty thin mouthfeel) but flavorful and substantial.

Please call me "Crispy Boi" moving forward.

Honestly, sounds like we've done almost the exact same thing, at the same age; I think I was around 30 as well. I'd wanted to like beer in the past, but other than some Polish beer I tried in college that was decent (no idea what it was), I figured all beer tasted like Old Milwaukee. My eye-opening moment was trying Guinness for the first time (I was in Wrigleyville to watch the St. Paddy's Day drunks), and I pretty quickly got into IPAs and shit via 3 Floyds/Alpha King.

Got sick of drinking a bunch of hazies that all taste the same, BA stouts that add an inch to my waistline in real-time, and I've started drinking primarily lagers and sours. I know a good lager is tougher to brew than it looks, but I really feel like it's something every brewery should do (within reason), because it's a can't-miss style, and imo one of the best "drink on premises" beers out there.
