I am uninformed about 99% of breweries in Maryland. That’s why I think this is not a good idea.

We have some heavy hitters on our side too. Just the other day there was a long, multi-pronged argument about the correct pronunciation of ß - that’s the level of anal we can play in.

Not a fan here. No offense to any breweries or people from any region, but the new service area is simply too large and covers threads and topics that I not only cant contribute to but also probably wont have interest in. Im not going to a brewery release in Maryland, for example. I also suspect that people in DC may not be interested in From the Barrel Brewing and their beers.

Maybe Im an originalist, but Id prefer mid atlantic and New england split back up again.

Again, no offense to our Mid Atlantic brethern and their fine beers!

Seriously, @M-Fox24 has identified on multiple occasions the amount of time (within minutes) his beer spent in a foudre.

The usage of "Tri-State Area" doesn't even mean the same thing throughout the region of this expanded forum. You were probably referring to the NY Metro area, but in Philly, that term means "PA, NJ, DE"

You Boston sports fans have done the unthinkable in the last in 20 years. Become even more insufferable than all the front-running non-native Yankee and Cowboy fans that were everywhere in the 90s.

And to keep it beer related - I also hold a grudge with New England for unleashing the hazy IPA trend that has infected every region now.

God I hate the merger so much. The whole board is clogged with irrelevant (to me) content now.

If I wanted to hang out with a bunch of jabronis from the tri-state, I wouldn’t have left Jersey when I turned 18.

I don't feel strongly one way or the other. There are days that felt dead in the New England thread, like 3-4 thread updates and all in the Tree House thread over some pedantic stuff (but isn't all our posting pedantic?) However in the short term this makes me angry, as due to the pandemic I haven't traveled through the mid-Atlantic to visit friends/family or attend a conference, or even visit my brother in the Bronx, in well over a year. Usually I get out of New England 2-3 times per year minimum.

Well, CT is a tri-state state and we’re New England, so that hasn’t changed

As with most mergers in the corporate world this is messy at best and a terrible idea at worst. I have little/no interest in threads outside of the New England area as I can't get their beers 99% of the time. I must have missed the geography lesson where Maryland is considered part of the Northeast. Taking two of the most visited and commented regions and putting them together is messier than Trillium's new fermentation profile....it's borderline trub.

This is a big miss from BA, in my opinion. Classic case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Sapwood is great, they are right next to my maryland work location, that being said I dont think this merger is a great idea. Im originally from New England and I always considered the part of Connecticut that rooted for the Giants and Yankees over the Pats and Sox not New England.

New England nominates a champion. Mid Atlantic nominates a champion. One game of Rock Paper Scissors. Regions are de-merged. Loser gets Connecticut.

This means that I’m less likely to miss some of the inane, ridiculous drama that goes down in the Tree House thread without having to venture out of my local forum, right?... nice.

I’m just imagining a backyard brawl with the Tree House and Other Half threads going at it now... while the Suarez thread and Hill thread quietly look down on them from the sidelines and quibble over which one of them is more “above that type of behavior.”
