Lager-heads, I'm on a hiatus from beer while I try to lose a few pounds, but I was in Wallaby's the other day and saw they had some beer from Schilling in Littleton, NH. Rumor has it they're making some of the best lagers in New England, but I have yet to try them. Not sure if this will be a regular occurrence or not. I was pretty amazed to see them since I've always wanted to try their beer and they're kind of up in the middle of nowhere NH. Let me know your thoughts if you snag some. I'm hoping I can try some in a few weeks.

U Fleku's beer in Prague was the inspiration behind this one, and I think they hit the mark. I spent a month at U Fleku one week and never got tired of that beer.

As always around this time of year, I'm putting up the bat signal for some local maibocks! Let me know if you see any around the metro area

Station 26 rolled theirs out a week or two ago. Dry Dock doesn't have one on yet, but it's definitely on the way. That's usually the best one in CO. to me.

Comrade is tapping a dry-hopped Maibock on 5/1. Lightly hopped with Mount Hood hops and lagered for 9 weeks

Aw hell yeah. I'll swing by for a crowler.

Thanks for the heads up on S26, @Domingo. I love DD's and Bierstadt's versions, as well. I guess I should stop holding out hope that packaged maibocks will appear in the wild though...

I don't think any pale German maibocks make it. Hofbräu's is imported (and is awesome) but is NOT a normal pale maibock.

If that style is your jam, you have to hunt for the local ones. Looking forward to Comrade, DD, and Bierstadt.

Prost usually drops a good packaged option that I look forward to every spring. That being said I will be hitting Comrade and Dry Dock as I have had neither. Pretty sad for a guy who loves the style.

Green Mountain Brewing and Barrels & Bottles (Downtown Golden location at least) both have their Maibocks out. Both are great, Green Mountain's is a little better than B&B's in my opinion. Cheers!!

That’s interesting about Barrels and Bottles. It’s been a few years since I’ve tried their beers. They have great guest taps, I like the owners and staff, but their own beers have been subpar in my opinion. I know they went through a lot of brewers, so maybe they have a good one now?

i know this isn’t exactly breaking news and a trip there is long overdue for me, but i was finally able to swing by bierstadt lagerhaus for lunch a week a half ago and truly loved it. their food was ridiculously good too.

Kind of associated with CO lagers.....I saw that they are set to demolish the Coors office complex in Golden. Since they moved HQ to Chicago, I guess this is the logical move. Anyone know what the space will become?

When it was announced before Covid, the plan was for the municipal court and police station to move to a new building in that location. It still might be the plan, I’ve not heard anything either way.

The Coors office thing hurts a little. I was actually hoping to get their regional marketing manager gig before they announced they were bailing on CO. It doesn't seem like they'll be coming back any time soon with no offices.

Unrelated, Bierstadt's Corn Lager cans go on sale today!

So topically relevant though! I am hiking with my GF in Boulder tomorrow and we're going to check out Knotted Roots afterwards, but I think I may propose a quick stop-off at Bierstadt on our way home (Colorado Springs) to grab cans of this.

It's really good. Grapevine got some in, although it's easily worth a trip to the source.
To me, it's like a better version of "old man" beers like Olympia, PBR, Old Milwaukee, etc.
I think either Ashleigh or Bill said that Coors Banquet would be almost perfect if they doubled the hops. That's kinda where this is headed.
