Official Northeast Merger Discussion Thread

I totally agree that a small brewery with a small following like AT might fall off the first couple of pages, but I would also say that if you advocate enough for these types of breweries, they start to gain a following. There was no Notch thread until a couple of years ago. It became one of the most followed threads in the NE forum. Other breweries like Oxbow, Schilling...that had a following but flew under the radar have benefitted greatly from new brewery specific threads, at least here.

The short of it is I don't want anyone to feel discouraged to start a thread to promote or share a brewery that they feel worthy of advocating for.

 

I just hope this merge doesn’t draw more attention to Fox Farm. It’ll be a sad day when their parking lot is filled with Jersey plates.

I will give it some more time, but my early takeaway is that I will come here less than I used to. There’s far too much to digest with the merger, threads I care about are far more likely to get buried. I will just rely on social media to keep me informed of what I care about. BA has become far less relevant to me by expanding the filtering of my interests.

 

I haven’t seen any neshaminy beers in NEPA besides County Line, Shape of hops, and a random shape variant. I used to love the variety they offered.

I agree with the below, I'm not here to argue NY VS PA VS MA (Northeast).


I do not want to set up alerts /emails as it makes more noise to filter, I just find it hard to search and keep up with the breweries most likely to hit Mass, NH, VT, Maine.

If I was planning a mid-Atlantic trip or NYC, I would hit up that thread to see what is new or must hit places. I really just started to get back into BA but this change make me less likely to now.

I hope they flip it back.

 

While this sounds good on paper, I think people will naturally just look at the first page or first half of a page and then move on. And even if a thread is updated routinely, the more threads you see that are active, the easier it is to miss a thread. I could be wrong, this is just personally how I feel.

There's no way to compare breweries though. Notch's best stuff is hyper local, and their absolute best beer is the beer you can have on tap through their Lukr taps at the tap room.

If someone's view of Notch is a 12 pack of Left of the Dial that they bought once then they have no idea what Notch does.

 

This is such an absolute loser response. Ignoring the fact that you missed the OVERT facetiousness of his post, one doesn't have to post beer or location reviews to 'contribute' on BA. This isn't a goddamn commune.

 

Ha, this is me wondering why anybody cares about Fox Farm.

 

In all my years on this website I have never seen somebody say "I have no goddamn idea what I'm talking about" so powerfully and succinctly. Truly impressive.

 

I mean, I think that first Notch thread definitely benefitted from not being pushed out 2-3 pages on a quieter or more concentrated forum versus a big one like this. In the Mid-Atlantic, I've seen the DC thread get pushed off the first page a few times and expect threads that are fairly regularly updated or posted in to be pushed too. My point is more that folks shouldn't feel like they should hold back and that there may be more mutual interest than they think. Just cuz a brewery isn't Tree House (TH) doesn't mean that it isn't worthy of a thread. BA's not all about hype breweries.

So this whole “it’s a big inconvenience to me!!!” sentiment doesn’t make any sense to me... you all know about the “watch thread” function, right?... the one that gives you a red notification each and every time someone comments on a thread? Are you just annoyed that you’ll forget Fox Farm exists if it slips to page 2 on BA or something?
