Will be traveling through Richmond on Sunday and want to hit a few places and hopefully get some cans as well as having some beers. Looking to see who is open for on site consumption and who may just have cans to go. The Answer, Mekong, Triple Crossing, Final Gravity...seems like The Veil is closed Sunday. Also considering Starr Hill, Basic City or any place to have some good local beer. Navigating the most up to date info has been tough, so any help would be appreciated.

Really good list of stops! The Answer is not open for on site but do to-go orders from 1pm - 5pm. Online ordering opens up at Noon Sunday so you will know what's available that day. (you have to pre-order online. Can't just walk up to purchase) They are also having a 2 can / 1 bottle release tomorrow so that may still be available Sunday or you might be able to find a proxy to help.

Mekong, Triple Crossing (both locations) and Final Gravity are all open for On site as is Starr Hill and Basic City. Can't really go wrong with any of those choices but if you are deciding b/w Starr Hill and Basic City I would lean towards Basic City because their IPAs (Bask especially) are awesome. It's also got a great skyline view of downtown RVA.

If you are looking for a couple more then Vasen in Scott's addition near The Veil is great and the best shop by far for cans / bottles if you are looking to bring other stuff back is Corks & Kegs.

I’ve never been to basic city, but I prefer hardywood to star hill and vasen, even if it isn’t stout season.

Those place are pretty good though. Richmond is kind of an embarrassment of beer riches.

Thanks, we were able to order beer from Triple Crossing and Final Gravity for Sunday, and are going to Basic City per your recommendation. Planning on Mekong and will be watching out for possible 12pm order from The Answer, fingers crossed.

I plan on doing a RVA tour today, hitting some Scotts Addition breweries I haven't been to before. I'll miss you by a day.

I basically hit a lot of the little breweries I haven't been to before. Enjoyed my visit, but f**k 64 traffic... damn campers and construction and slowpokes.
    1. Tabol (oh wow, a beer in a real glass... neat!... other breweries, take note!)
    2. Stangeways Scott's Addition
    3. Starr Hill (contact tracing mafia out front)
    3. Castleburg
    4. Main Line (had a little festival going on benefiting shelters/pets, etc.)

We ended up ordering beer online from Triple Crossing, Final Gravity, and The Answer for Sunday pickup.

Meant to order from Triple Crossing Fulton so we could have a beer and pizza but put the order in for downtown so ended up just going there. Got Valhalla, Falcon Smash and Dawn Chorus. Had pours of 2 other IPAs and enjoyed them outside on the deck. Poor Icarus I really enjoyed. It wasn’t too crowded luckily cause it is small for social distancing, but they were doing a great job there, and the women bartending could not have been nicer. Even putting our cans back in the fridge while we enjoyed our beers.

Headed over to Basic City next. Had a beer, but seeing no food, we moved on to Final Gravity which posted a food truck, Charm City, for crab cakes. Purchased some Bask cans to take home before we left. Really liked that one. Nice place. Good service.

Final Gravity was pretty busy. Got cans of Wandering Star and crowler of Venus Rising that we had preordered. Nice place here even though it was busy, it was nicely set up, with people nicely spaced etc both indoors and outside. Had 2 Ipas on tap and ate our delicious crab truck food.

Headed over to The Answer to pick up our order of Tasted Like Sunshine Dust. Easy pick up, our cans had lots of condensation on them like they were sitting out for a few, but we got them right into our iced up cooler. Ate at Meekong.

It was a great mini visit and we look forward to next time and hope things get back to something more normal. The online ordering from all was seemless, and hope this option continues.

Bumping this - appreciate all of the info provided, my fiance and I are headed to Richmond next weekend and its been tough navigating the breweries websites to figure out each of their protocols as we still much prefer to dine outside.

Will definitely head to TC and the Veil as they seem to be keeping everything safe and distant, has anyone been to The Answer for dine in recently and can speak to the experience there?

I also would love any restaurant recommendations that have nice patios, thanks!

Most breweries are open now so you should be good to go just about anywhere. Veil still requires advance reservations and you can book a date/time on their website. They allow booking 14 days in advance so you can go ahead and book that anytime. If you also plan to pickup cans/bottles those still must be pre-purchased online and they also allow a 7 day hold so if you happen to see anything for next Tuesday's release that catches your eye you can always order anytime after ordering opens up at 8am on Nov. 3rd and then select which day over the weekend you would pick them up.

Triple Crossing is still pretty laid back and they have a big space. No reservations needed

I have only been to The Answer a couple times since March and only long enough to grab to-go but they seem pretty chill to and the deck is back open. But on weekends there can be somewhat of a wait and I don't think they are doing reservations so you'll just have to stop by and hopefully it won't be too long to gab a table.

Not a restaurant but Starr Hill RVA (Scotts Addition near Veil) has an awesome rooftop patio and they usually have food trucks on the weekends or you can order from Tazza Restaurant next door and they will deliver to you. Tazz has good food. Legend Brewing has an awesome deck with the best skyline views of RVA IMO.

Visiting Richmond in a couple of weeks. We'll be fully vaxxed but we'll have our dog in tow so will probably want to stick with breweries with outdoor space. Was wondering if y'all had recommendations for breweries with good outdoor spaces. Know we'll probably go to TCB. Any other suggestions, including lesser known spots (doesn't necessarily have to be a brewery, could be a cool bar) would be appreciated.

Definitely check out Basic City. They have a nice patio with good downtown skyline view of RVA. They are also one of the only, if not the only, brewery that allows pets inside and have a large open game room area adjacent to their main taproom space.

Legend is an easy 1-2 minute walk from Basic City if you want the OG of Richmond breweries. I believe they allow pets on the front patio but not the large patio that looks out over the downtown skyline.

Final Gravity would also be on my must list along with TBC. They allow pets on their outdoor patio.

I've also been impressed with what Ive had from Ardent lately and they have a nice patio space.

If you have not been to Hardywood West Creek that's a destination stop if you don't visit RVA often. Absolutely beautiful facility. No dogs inside but they have a couple outdoor bar areas and ample space to spread out.

If you are into barrel-aged and mixed fermentation beers then be sure to check out Tabol

Most breweries with an outdoor area allow pets but if you are thinking of heading to The Answer they are one that does not allow pets inside or on the deck.

Thanks for replying. Hadn't heard of Basic City - seems like a good place to take in the city. Final Gravity is the must stop besides Triple Crossing for me. Will try to check out Tabol as well, since I am into mixed ferm beers. Thanks for the heads up about The Answer. That might have to be a stop by to get cans/crowlers vs hanging out (if I end up going).

Stella's in scott's addition has an outdoor patio and is pup friendly, great mediterranean food. ZZQ is in scott's addition as well has outdoor seating and mindblowing BBQ. I heard good things about little nickel (tiki bar with good food) and it has outdoor space. If you go to TCB Fulton I would recommend hitting up Libby Park, can do a picnic after grabbing smashburgers at Cobra Burger and some chilled booze at Second Bottle and it has awesome views of RVA or Chimborazo park that has a dog park both super close to TCB.

You're in NOVA, right? Have you had 2Fifty yet in Riverside Park, MD yet? Best BBQ I've had outside Texas. We'll probably check out ZZQ since my GF loves BBQ (and I guess I do too). All of your suggestions sound good. So much to eat!
