Ok I had originally wanted to start a thread on Barley Browns. But realizing this is not a war between PNW and Cali, wanted to make it inclusive.
What Oregon beers do you guys get regularly in CA?
Barley Browns Pallet Jack and Boneyard RPM are just everywhere in Oregon. Almost every dive bar of the lowest sort has one or both. Then You got Breakside IPA and Pfriem that are available almost every restaurant.
My question is have any of these regular drinking beers spread to CA.?
Of course we all get Sierra Nevada and long may it continue! Lagunitas too. But the last beer I got from them was terrible

I wish! Would love to cross paths on the regular with Pallet Jack and most anything from pFreim. Have been seeing more Boneyard stuff consistently in the Sac area, and packaged Breakside stuff has been here for awhile now. Of all those breweries, the only brew I've seen on draught is Notorious.

pFriem and HPB should probably bond together during this trying messageboard time and make a new batch of pFriem Spaceship.

The only one I regularly still see is Deschutes. Boneyard has also been showing up recently. We used to see a lot of Rogue and Ninkasi but Rogue is less common these days and Ninkasi has all but disappeared. On occasion I’ve seen Breakside, Gigantic, Stickmen and once in a blue moon something from Crux or Ex Novo. (There may be a few others I’m missing.) But I know I’ve never seen pFriem or Fort George here.

Deschutes, caldera, ninkasi, mazama, and gigantic are the only Oregon beers I see with any regularity. Black Butte is the only one that makes it to my fridge from time to time. If you could put a word in with pfriem, break side, or barley browns that'd be great

I would love to see some Boneyard and Fort George cans down in OC/LA area. That’s great Boneyard makes it to SAC area. But I’m not flying to SAC for Boneyard cans. I may buy a can or 2 of Great Notion ipa’s when they show up down here. And there was a 3/4 can drop a couple weeks ago. Didn’t bother. I will fly back to Bend for some more great Oregon beers and bring back some cans. Another Bend trip is in the works. I got me a couple of Hop Venom cans in the fridge. Taking them over to the brother in laws to share later today. Almost 5 weeks out now. I believe we get 10 Barrel and Crux down here already but never bother. Y’all up there in Oregon should already be getting Beachwood cans/kegs. MT’s there. But the truth is we are so over saturated with cans that most are just sitting on the shelf collection dust and those hops are dropping out. A lot of the outer state cans that make it to California are just not moving fast enough. A lot of CA cans are just sitting. I’ve got a sh!te load of cans in my fridge that need to be consumed, including those Boneyard cans. There’s just too much great beers out there. Can’t keep up.

Soon I'd think you shouldn't have to fly at all to get Boneyard cans if you get Deschutes stuff in your area.

Heater Allen stuff is available at the better bottle shops here in OC/LA area.

A few others (in addition to what's been mentioned) I see in my area occassionally are Von Ebert and Occidental.

To be perfectly honest, I don't go looking for Oregon beer when I'm back visiting family and friends in California. That being said, I'm told Caldera stuff is readily available in the bay area, and in the past I've seen Logsdon stuff and Cascade bottles in the wine country. It's not something I go looking for (I drink Cali beer when in California and Oregon/Washington beer when I'm home), but that's what I recall.

This might be a little bit of a stretch, but Great Notion has recently been getting some small distribution in local bottle shops here in OC and LA.

Tried Great Notion a few times and found it underwhelming for the high prices.

Sadly, I don't drink as much Oregon beer as I used to. Deschutes, Caldera, and Hair of the Dog where in my rotation (partially because I was in Oregon at least twice a year). Today, I don't have any Oregon beer in my fridge (a lot of Colorado beer is in the fridge that my son brought home when he came for our birthday in earl in April).

I have been drinking California and more local beers (actually found a SJ brewery that I like).

Speaking of GN drops, BottlecraftLB is dropping 6 cans today.
I think we are so overwhelmed with the hazy stuff that anything else is underwhelming. We still have the best of beers here in California. IMO.

Haven’t seen Caldera in SoCal in years, used to be readily available at WF’s, BevMo, and some beer shops. Caldera IPA was first canned ipa I recall, easy to strut around in public with at the time!

If you want to get your Boneyard fix in Los Angeles, K&L currently has RPM, Hop Venom and Bone-A-Fide. Orde online -- free shipping to the LA location.

If you read over some of the older GN threads, you'll see that's pretty much the standard knock on their beers. They're generally described as pretty good, but the price point doesn't seem justified to a lot of consumers here in NW.

There's just too much other good local beer that's seen as comparable to justify their pricing. Of course that's just my opinion, and plenty of people seem to have no problem paying their prices, so what do I know?

Yep. If someone gave me a beer from them I would gladly drink it. I have a hard time spending over $5 for a single can of good local stuff, so $7-8 of just ok out of state stuff isn’t my thang.

When it comes to NEIPAs I agree, but Double Stack is still one of my favorite go-to non-BA stouts. When I can find someone willing to trade it at cost it’s a great stout. And at 20ish for a 4pack it’s certainly cheaper than our local pastry options (i.e. Bottle Logic’s $10/can non-BA pastry stouts), and at least on par or above them even.
