I might suggest trying the locals trade forum.

Post an ISO for Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold or Elliott Ness, from NE Jacks Abby House Lager, or Mass Rising. Even if you only do it once you’ll have a taste profile to try and match local stuff. If neither or either doesn’t work for you I’m stumped. Maybe you need something a bit hoppier and you might luck out with some fresh Firestone Walker Pivo Pils. It’s a bit of work this way, but finding a starting point is important. Those 3-4 beers are common in area, hell I think I can get JA House Lager, I’d be happy to send you some.

When in doubt...Pilsner Urquell. Great noble hop bite with a lively body and a low ABV

Im sure you’ve had your share of Neshaminy Creek pils and Vienna and I’ve notice since I’ve moved to a more central location in NJ I can’t find them and it’s a bit sad. That trauger Pilsner and churchville lager were staples. Very good. Doubt California sees them though. I’d recommend them

Have you tried a Sam Adams Boston Lager recently? Lot's of flavor there without going too dark or heavy.

Lagers are very delicate, I’m not sure what he’s looking for, but I thinking from his description he’s kinda barking up the wrong tree. If your looking for a full bodied beer and over the top flavor profiles, your bound to be a bit disappointed. Lagers aren't really that kinda beer as you can see from the scoring system.

There is a reason you can't find these brands:
    • Trauger Pils is discontinued
    • Churchville (Vienna Lager) is no longer being brewed year-round
I recently discussed Neshaminy Creek brewing in another thread:

"For a one date point study let’s consider Neshaminy Creek Brewery and their two lagers:

    · Trauger Pilsner

    · Churchville Lager (Vienna Lager)

The Trauger Pilsner got nixed and according to a post by a BA the Churchville Lager is now a seasonal vs. year round.

The core lineup for Neshaminy Creek is now dominated by hoppy beers (APA, IPA and IIPA).

On a related note in the fairly recent past I was a fan of Trauger Pilsner but some sort of change occurred in brewing that beer a year+ ago and I was not a fan of this ‘new’ Trauger Pilsner. The fact that they decided to discontinue this ‘new’ version is A-OK with me.

Bottom line here – hoppy beers are what customers want and Neshaminy Creek is willing to oblige.

For completeness the other beer that is listed as being a core beer is Wayward Wheat (formerly branded as Highwater Hefeweize). I wonder if this beer is truly available year-round. Maybe some BA knows the answer here."

Sad, Trauger was a great beer, crisp, dry, outstanding on a summer day.

As to the OP who’s disappeared it looks like, I’m drinking a Michelob Lager, imo it’s a more enjoyable beer than any other AAL out there. It’s certainly not everywhere here, but a better creamier more velvety mouthfeel, it’s not a carbonation bomb like Budweiser, a bit more hop presence as well, at least three Hallertau, Strissel Spalt, other hops, two row malt, this is not just fizzy yellow water. Stated as a Munich style Lager. You can do worse.

Dale, I agree with you within the context of "was" meaning Trauger Pils as brewed a number of years ago. That beer had a very enticing cracker-like malt flavor that was pleasantly balanced by noble hops aroma/flavor. The last Neshaminy Creek Trauger Pils I tasted was at the 2019 KoP Beerfest and that beer was nothing like the previous versions of Trauger Pils; that beer was 'dumbed down' in comparison. The cracker-like malt flavor was absent and the hop aspects were quite muted. I have no idea what prompted Neshaminy Creek to change things here but I was no longer a fan of this 'new' version. The fact they decided to discontinue this version is a 'good' thing from my personal perspective. Maybe others think differently here?

And as regards to Churchville no longer being year-round, Workhorse Brewing makes a Vienna Lager that is much superior in my opinion and that beer is still a year-round beer.

    Cheers!

They Buckled to the Haze Bro beers, sad too, I like Shape of Hops To Come a lot, but imo Trauger was their best beer.

Depending on where you are in California you should have access to at least some of these breweries.
Moonlight, Alvarado St, Enegren, Eppig, HPB, NP, Humblesea or SARA.
If you don’t like anything from these guys you probably just don’t like lagers.

reminds me of a Jim Gaffigan quote that goes something like... People that like fish only if it doesn’t taste like fish, don’t like fish.

Actually, I checked the Great Lakes website and found that you are quite correct.

I was surprised to see that Great Lakes has such a small distro footprint. For some reason, I thought they distro'd at almost a nationwide level. I stand corrected.

    Cheers.

Dale, I can report that Michelob Original Lager is not available in my area. Plenty of Michelob Ultra and other variants though.
Is that how AB is marketing Michelob Original Lager now? Are the words "Munich style Lager" on the label of your beers? @jesskidden

    Cheers!

I loved their dunkelweizen that came out in the fall. Amazing German brewer and the heritage of that in pa should be kept I tried multiple times to get a job there as an assistant brewer. They work In 3 Shifts. So any number of those guys could have left and been replaced by a younger more ipa centric brewer. Last I was there they had somewhere around here 8-12 ?? I’m guessing off memory production brewers at this point with the head guy coming from the Siebel Institute in Chicago. Very trained people. Wouldn’t hire just anyone even me with a background in German brewing and culture. I still enjoy their beers and even at that time say 2016-2017 county line ipa was their number one beer. I loved down the street from them. They started releasing sours and I feel like at that point even tho it was labeled blueberry gose and cherry Berliner that while they did share characters with those base beers, that was where it started falling off into the Novel territory and of u know croydon and Bristol pa I’m surprised. It’s a very blue collar area.
