FWIW I think that the shift from German style beers to IPAs was a business decision. The brewery is owned by Rob Jahn, Steve Capelli, and Jenna Ball.

The head brewer used to be Jeremy Myers but he left the company a few years ago (the exact same time that Trauger Pils went downhill?).

Baltic Porter is always a favorite style of mine.

Try a Celebrator, it's just a great beer!
You are 72 years old, and you can't find a Lager that you like?
How long have you been drinking beer?
Try any of The German styles, Craft or Imports. Lagers are often subtle and you may need to adjust your taste accordingly.
Craft lagers, what's not to like?

It is that, I’m from Morrisville so I think they’re out pacing the demographics as well. I could be wrong there too. The core was outstanding, they’ve ’rve ran away from that.

Well, that is an ‘interesting’ twist for this beer?

As you may already know the history of Michelob is from Bohemia vs. Germany (Munich). From my article:

“Adolphus Busch had an entrepreneurial spirit. While Budweiser was very successful, during a trip to Bohemia he was inspired by the local beers to produce another lager to expand his brand portfolio; he was to name this beer Michelob. Michelob was first brewed in 1896.”

    Cheers!

In a pinch it’s better than most, especially from the AB portfolio. Losing the tradition of that curvy brown bottle was imo a mistake, but I’m sure it’s about money.

Just like some advertising person at AB InBev coming up with that BS about "Munich style Lager".

Apparently so - kinda weird considering the origin of the brand name.

Yup, as I discussed in posts #48 and #50 above.

Just another example of marketing BS ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Cheers!

Yeah, but those posts were written while I was replying to your "tag" - half way through I took a break from composing it and creating the jpeg to wander through the garden before the rain to eat a few radishes & scallions and some arugula and see if there's more asparagus to cut... then, after that spicy mix, I grabbed a Flower Power* out of the beer fridge . (*No, it's not the same beer it once was, but it was the first time I've found it relatively fresh so I bought a 4-pk. Hit the spot.)

Is Bells Lager of the Lakes available to you? That’s the one they kind of changed the game for me and my tastes.

I would suggest a Helles doppelbock. They are mostly-seasonal, but often (not always) possess a crisp and aromatic hop character along with the right amount of body (definitely sturdier than a low alcohol, light lager), and plenty of oomph in the ABV department.

Good luck in finding one that you like!

aka Maibock, or maybe Imperial Maibock since you said 'doppel....' You're right, there's plenty of flavor in this style.

My latest lager kick is LongBoard brewed by Kona. Probably in a few months that will change. There are a number of good lagers brewed in Richmond but are probably not available in your state.

Not sure where you are in California but Highland Park makes great beers all around and they do excellent lagers. Their Timbo Pils is a favorite of mine. Super tasty and drinkable.

Great Lakes is a Cleveland based regional brewer that distro's to 14 states plus DC....I would hardly call a 14 state "footprint" small by any stretch.....
