Been a hot minute since I’ve had Captains Daughter, and this tastes a lot sweet than my tasting notes tell me it tasted last time I had it.

Shawarma for dinner. I marinated this for 4 days. Came out amazing. Another because I spilled 1/4 of my first.

 

Check the date? That beers never been sweet to me and Ive been drinking it since they first brewed it. The first year or so they had some inconsistencies but that got corrected long ago. Cheers

Monday’s are frequently detox days but I have so much good beer in the fridge that I best be drinking it and some friends on here have reminded me that they don’t get any fresher, cheers!

I’ve always wanted to try Alpine Nelson. So I decided to make something similar based on a little online research. What’s crazy, is while this was fermenting I was able to find a few IPAs using Nelson Sauvin when I wasn’t able to prior. I am finding that I like but don’t love the Nelson Sauvin hop. I can’t quite tell what the Southern Cross hop is adding to this since I’ve never had it. It’s still tasty enough to drink no problem. My neighbors also said they’d help out. I hope to try out the real Alpine Nelson this July when I take the fam to San Diego.

 

Final beer for tonight. I'm going to run to work tomorrow to get another 12 pack of this good stuff, since it's on sale this week. I need some brews for archery practice tomorrow.

At this moment I am drinking one of my few last MichUltra Ambers. I just joined this site so I could say "Why in the He@$!!! did they quite making this beer. I am 61years old and have drank a lot of different beers in my lifetime, but once I tried the Mich Ultra Ambers, man was I HOOKED! I love this beer! By far the best tasting beer I've ever had..., but of course, it's been discontinued. You can't believe how distraught I amover this, I just don't understand why they would discontinue it. What an idiotic decision! I tried the AmberMax, but no comparison! Guess I'll just have to go to Bud Light. One unhappy camper, but nobody cares I'm sure.

Winter Warlock from Bristol Brewery in Colorado Springs, lucked into this at a small bottle shop there and grabbed it.
One of the better “basic” oatmeal stouts I have had, Cheers!

 

Thought on this beer? Last summer was not a good time to visit but the brewery is a bit down the road from a place I stayed at last year. Plan on stopping this year as well as a venture into Vermont.
