Was never too keen on forking over $90 for this as it was, and since I was resigned to not even have a chance anyway (originally not supposed to hit Columbus) I don't think I'll deal with trying to hunt one down.

Picked one up at Anderson's last night. They are also selling individual bottles for $15 a pop (limit 2). You can either buy one gift set or two bottles but not both. They got in 10 cases and have gone through 6 already.

I just called....I can't get there until 11 so I'm out of luck, but they have 4 bottles left and won't hold them. Dang.

Oh, awesome. So they're selling it before the release AND breaking them down into even more expensive singles!

Weiland's seemed to have a decent stock--it's probably worth least a phone call, especially since they open at 10.

Are you really complaining about a $85.99 6 pack being broken down into 6 $15 bottles? Even if you value the glasses at $5 each (I wouldn't), that's less than a 20% markup. I was there last night - the guy is just trying to make it available to as many people as possible.

But the whole point is for there to be no markup--there's a relatively strict MSRP, and (to me) part of the value is in the set. I have a Westy, but got it anyways because of the appeal of a great-looking box set. The Abbey, if we're to believe Shelton, didn't want to completely price people out--it's set margins, with funds paying for the Abbey. By taking another cut, they're making it more expensive. Yeah, it will be nice to be able to buy one or two, but that wasn't the intent. Side note--I'd definitely value the glasses at minimum $5, and probably more due to the collectability.

I guess it's hard to please everyone - I thought it was cool that he was making it available in both single bottles and the gift packs. (Of course, I ended up buying the gift pack, so maybe I didn't think it was that cool.)

I think pleasing the people who made the beers should probably be considered a little bit more if we ever want to see this Stateside again. That's a good way to make sure a lot of people get a chance to try it.

And "the guy" just lost any future Shelton Brothers allocated stuff. Not cool, they were all told specifically not to break up packs for any reason period.

Didn't know this, that changes the equation a little.
