I had some in my hand but put in back ,and picked up a 30pk of Hamm’s. Will trade with you $4$ if you like.

For some reason Primo was all we would ever choose to have purchased for us in high school and I still can't enjoy it. Hamm's, however, is completely agreeable to me.

What's the secondary on Primo relative to Hamm's? Could I get two Hamm's for a Primo? Would I need a Natty Light as a plus?

I'd be excited if I saw Grain Belt Golden showed up again. Some many forget Premium was the uhh premium version of Golden I think.

I've been wanting this to happen for years. But Schell's appears to be going in the opposite direction with Grain Belt "Elite" or whatever to take some business from the Michelob Ultra crowd plus the ubiquitous hard seltzers line.

Yeah it's all about the light beers and seltzers. I honestly hardly ever see a regular macro AAL on draft anywhere other than a couple Mexican ones. I'll see Nordeast but I can't remember the last time I saw regular Premium, MGD, High Life, Bud, Coors Original, Leinies, etc. I guess I do know a place that has Hamms. And once in awhile I'll see Pabst or Labatt Blue. One place had a lineup up six light beers and no regular AAL. I'm sure they have their reasons.

Wait, did Grain Belt go away? It's been a few years since I've been to Minnesota.

No. You can get grain belt. It is the only American lager I'll let into the house for the wife. I did get a 30 of hamms for my son's wedding groomsmen but they didn't enjoy it. Oh well. Kids today.

Ironically I might have finished most of the Hamms

You cannot get Grain Belt (the basic brand also known as Golden in the day). It hasn't been brewed for at least ten years. You can get Grain Belt Premium. Or Grain Belt Nordeast.

I chuckled & panicked at the same time when I read this, only b/c as a local, I'm used to just asking for a Primo & never gave any thought to the "other Grain Belt".

As long as Schell's keeps pumping out Nordeast & Primo, we're all Golden:grin:! Cheers

Not that long ago, northern Minnesota was like the promised land for nostalgic American lagers. I could find at least: Grain Belt, Hamm's, Blatz, Schlitz, Stroh's (surprisingly not bad, BTW), Olympia, Schmitt's, Leinenkugel's Original, Pabst, Old Style, LaCrosse Lager, possibly Meister Brau, and once upon a time, something called Pig's Eye, which had a pirate looking fellow on the can who seemed to be chuckling about how you're going to feel the next day after drinking his awful swill.

I wonder if it's still this way.

No it's not the same now but I remember those days two. I'd say now you can get Schmidt, Leiny, Hamms, Pabst and Old Style. Maybe around Brainerd you might see Strohs occasionally.

If anyone ever sees Schmidt on tap. Please don't hesitate to let me know:sunglasses:

Jimmy's in NE had Old Style on tap, it's been sometime since I've been there though.

    Or Hauenstein on tap......

You have a much better chance of seeing Hauenstein on tap in southwestern Minnesota than anywhere else. There was a “plan” to push it to Twin Cities area draught lines about fifteen years ago, but that didn’t go very far.

Old Style has been m.i.a. for about ten years, easily. And Schmidt (“Schmidt’s”) was last seen on tap* at a bar not too far from Bug’s Place (South Saint Paul, MN) in about 2004.

*The last time I enjoyed “Schmidt’s” in a bottle was at the AMF Maplewood Lanes on English Street, in 2006.
