I always feel like a douche asking anywhere I'm not a regular customer, which unfortunately is most places these days. Oh well.

    This.

Also, Salud had it but I think it was gone in a day.

Good Bottle Co had some on Friday afternoon when I stopped in for a pint. Was behind the counter at the time.

Anyone want to share their experience of this vintage? Picked one up at Sam's today but haven't popped the cap just yet. They still have 2.5 cases at $18.99 a bottle BTW. I'm willing to give Mother Earth another shot after Windowpane #2 but I'm really hoping that this one justifies the pricetag.

I sampled some 12 at ORF and it seemed to have less bourbon barrel to it than the 11. But I need more to form a full opinion.

Not sure the hate on windowpane #2. I had one last night and really enjoyed it. Like most ME big bottles, though, a little too expensive.

I'm drinking mine now. Well carbonated for a BA beer. The bourbon is subtle but well-integrated. Really nice coffee notes. Oaky with nice vanilla undertones. I get some peanut butter notes as it warms. This is very good. I'm not sure it's better than Event Horizon (I'd say no) but the quality is there. Still a tough price point. I'd love to see this closer to $15. Listening Mother Earth?

for the record, $18 is the cheapest I've ever paid for EH...

Where are you buying EH? Most I've ever seen it for is $15.

in fairness, I've never been able to get down to NC for EH release day, so by the time I - or friends - can get down there it's been a couple of weeks later. most shops are long since sold out and the few remaining ones with stock seemingly to have the higher prices. last year a friend brought back almost a case from the Asheville area (went down for Christmas Jam) at $18/bottle

Just saying it should be on the shelf closer to $15. I know that distributors have to get their share but I'd buy this more often if the price was better. Several posters mentioned that if given the choice they would buy EH all day long over Silent Night and pocket the $5. I suspect that this is a common sentiment.

SN is 18 bucks a bottle, worth a try, like the coffee. The fact that EH is 13 bucks is an anomaly and I'm thankful to Olde Hickory for keeping the price down, great stuff.

Agreed; you know they could get an extra 4-5 bucks out of it but they keep it in the respectable range which makes it taste even better!

Definitely worth a try and I agree with you that Olde Hickory could charge more, e.g. EH is priced similarly to Lone Rider's Pistols at Dawn.

It's not like I gave birth to Silent Night or anything, I haven't even popped my 2012 bottle yet. I just wish people would be fairer when critiquing the pricing. You can't discount bottle size + packaging (corked and caged) and then people use the lowest price ever heard for EH and highest reported for SN + tax.

I paid more for Trail Magic, Green Man is asking $20 for their Stout, which isn't remarkable. It's a seasonal release, I expect them to be 15-18 bucks, I have no problem with that. SN is a bigger bottle as mentioned. I have no idea how OH keeps EH at 13 bucks, but they must be making a buck or they wouldn't be doing it.

Had this on draft last night in Asheville and holy bourbon! That's practically all I could taste. Sounds like bottles aren't nearly as bourbon forward. I picked up 2 to ship to a buddy but not sure if I want to drop $18 on a bottle for myself.
