Melange Noir is awesome. Heat is there but the booze is hidden. Way too easy to finish this bottle. It is about as good as Maple BT and Gray Monday for me.

All sorts of doughnut box vids have dropped on the tube. But, I haven't seen info on release date, etc. Did I miss something?

Apparently you did. Members get access on June 1st, public on June 2nd.

(By members I mean me, hoarder, not sure if it's all levels. Too lazy to look up this info that's all over the place)

I'm as excited about the discounts at the doughnut shops in the box as the beers themselves ;p

Rye Papier was and is fantastic. Zero carb but at being 12 years old I'm not super surprised. I was expecting a severely oxidized beer but nope, only the slightest amount of oxidation.

There can't be many left, open them if you got them.

I've been distracted with work and life for the last few weeks. Was that an announcement on a happy hour broadcast? I don't see an email.

That's awesome! That set is and should always remain the holy grail of Bruery beers for the fans!

Mostly right. HS will get them a day earlier than that.
    • HS - 5/31 along with June allocations
    • RS and PS - 6/1 along with June allocations
    • Public - donut box goes public 6/2
All these details and more will be in tomorrow's member email.

I know we say this a lot, but buy these boxes during your member early access. We're seeing a ton of traffic and interest on our landing page. We don't even have enough for every member.

There are a few things that are confusing if not explicitly noted: where the oak was grown vs where the wine was made vs what type of wine it was. "Port" or "Portugal" could be an answer to any of those three characteristics.

American Oak (Quercus alba "White Oak") is what grows well in the USA, is great for making barrels, and less expensive comparatively speaking. This is what we use for Bourbon barrels, and lots of CA wines. This also CAN be shipped to Jerez to age Sherry, or Portugal to make Port. In modern times, quixotically for more basic experessiosn - European wine makers may choose to ship over American Oak - they don't always use the more expensive French Oak / European Oak (Quercus robur). Historically they would use European Oak from near where the wine was made and then ship the wine to the place it was sold, in the cask, which is why there were tons of wine seasoned barrels for Single Malts, though since glass became common that is unnecessarily expensive, and bourbon barrels which only may be used once are the least expensive option, even after the pond hop.

You also can make "port style wines" anywhere you have grapes, but you do see them in CA. Sweet, fortified, syrupy wines of ~18% abv.

I could be totally wrong but I thought the N American Port BT was (American Oak) barrels that previously held a "port style wine" from California - they weren't actually from Portugal. The 2017 version would be Portuguese made Port, and they didn't indicate whether it was American or European Oak (if they even knew since Port producers might not even keep track).

Awesome! Yeah, it definitely seems to be generating a lot of interest online. I'll be grabbing my Donut Box on 5/31, for sure.

Any idea when we'll find out more details about the Anniversary Party? For example, signing up for the Hoarders sessions?

Are these beers ones that saw extended aging(at least 12 months) or along the lines of say 3 months?

I usually split my large format bottles over the course of two nights, but Melange Noir was mysteriously all gone the first night...

Has the Donut Box price been released? Thinking $100ish for 8 cans & 2 glasses?

    They said $120 on Facebook.

Ooo, that's a bit steep... I'm assuming these are comparable to the monthly pastry stouts that are like $10 a can.

So $102 for HS and $108 for RS. Not too bad.

Given that you don't have enough for every member... if the member allocations sell out, is there an opportunity for us to purchase from the general populace pool? Or once it sells out for members there is no public sale?

How did I miss that this was a collab with 3 different donut shops and one of them being the donuttery! Their blueberry cake is the best blueberry donut. I am so excited!
