Thanks for making this thread i had created one to ask few things my questions answered regarding fresh hops and hiking. I’ll also be side to watch the fresh hop thread when it’s created.

This will be a great place to ask stuff before we come. Can’t wait to visit your city mid September, what an awesome resource above.

Favorite hiking trails in/around Seattle? Thinking a 3-4 mile hike, moderate difficulty (with severe involving vertical climbing)

Yep, I use AllTrails a lot down in PDX- we have access to lots of great hiking in the Columbia River Gorge, Mount Hood and on the Coast, and I have to assume Seattle is similar.

Context: I'll be coming up next weekend by myself to pick up the newest Floodland public release & will be passing through in late June for a camping trip with my family plus my in-laws (Ranier & North Cascades NP). Just want to gather what peoples' favorite hikes in the area are that are relatively accessible.. from perusing AllTrails, there are so many, I need help narrowing it down as I don't have the benefit of whittling options down on a weekly basis like I do with the voluminous options in Northwest Oregon!

Mask up if you want to ever be able to buy Floodland again, just a heads up!

Hikes within the city aren't super long, but Cowen/Ravenna Park has some nice short trails (which lead to Ravenna Brewing), as does Discovery Park in Magnolia and Schmitz Preserve Park near Alki Beach. Anything of length and substance is North or East of Seattle. My family loves camping at Bedal and Marblemount.

Time for another trip to Seattle, maybe next week or the week after. Focusing on Stoup and Reuben's this time and will be spending two nights instead of just one. Last trip was for the Cowiche Canyon release that fell on my birthday.

Looking at spending some time at Discovery Park and will probably hit Holy Mountain. The food menu at Stoup in Kenmore looks good, so I'll probably go to both locations. I know Ballard has food trucks.

ISO WCIPAs, NWIPAs, and hoppy pales. Fremont and Georgetown are readily available in PDX but will go for brewery-only taps like Fremont's Brewer's Reserve series.

    Hey, Great list.

I can’t believe Elysian Brewing is not on the list.
I know the Space Dust is one of the top selling IPAs in Seattle. They have three locations too.

Going to a game? Elysian Fields ...has food.
Capitol Hill? The beer hall there has food.
Airport Way? Elysian Taproom. This is where they brew it! The can art is always great, too.

    Your welcome. :sunglasses::wink:

The popularity of Elysian beers has gone steadily down hill on BA since their affiliation with InBev-Ab.

    Interesting.
I am from the Midwest and had a small fit when AB sold to InBev but got over it. I still love the Bud beers and always will. Elysian Superfuzz Blood Orange Pale is high on my list too.

I get the fact that their not really Craft anymore, but that won’t stop me from buying their beers. I never bought them exclusively anyway so my $ is spread around to various brews.

Have there been any changes to the Covid restrictions in the OP since May?

Clackamas County is supposed to reach 65% of first doses today and move into the "low risk" category.

If you're gonna be in Ballard, hit up Aslan's Remote Taproom. They've got some good stuff out right now.

Masonry Fremont was a nice spot for pizza when I visited a couple weekends ago, I'll need to come back up for their beer festival whenever things finally open back up. My buddy was telling me that they were serving pizzas all day alongside all the delicious beers being served that day. Sounds well worth the price tag.

Elysian’s Tangletown Pub was within walking distance from my house and was a great family friendly spot to take my daughter. Sadly once they sold to InBev I was done with them, much like their head brewer Dick Cantwell, who was also the only of the three principal owners who opposed the sale.

I can’t support Elysian when there are better Seattle breweries who truly keep it local. Also, next time you’re in Seattle stop by Cloudburst and have a Cosmic Lust, which is the original Space Dust recipe made by the dude who originally came up with it for Elysian.

I live in Ballard. Less than a mile from Cloudburst. Still, I got no beef with Elysian.
    Just sayin

    Cheers

You should absolutely drink what you like, and if Elysian floats your boat, I hope you enjoy it greatly.

Given AB's history and clear animus to the craft beer industry, I have a hard time supporting any entity they own or control. For me, there are plenty of other local craft breweries making beer that is comparable or superior to what Elysian makes, and I'd rather give them my money than Inbev-AB.

But that's just me. You should drink what you like.

Agreed. With all of that said I cannot in good conscience include Elysian in the list. If you’re down in Georgetown I’d rather tell people to support Machine House, Jellyfish, Georgetown, Lower Case and Great Notion.

Elysian is still a very sore point with me. I could sort of forgive 10 Barrel but Elysian with the "Corporate Beer Sucks" motto? F&ck them!
Also after they took over they drug trusted all the employees...Jesus, no spliff at break time

And..why is Elysian so expensive in the grocery stores here compared to 10 Barrel? Get a 6 of Joe IPA on sale usually in Safeway for $7.99( with card)..mostly $8.99, sometimes but Elysian rarely comes in under $11.99.
Another reason why i forgave 10 Barrel. They are pricing at In-bev prices not sought after micros brews.
