What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #3157

Today's new to me beer is a Pilsner from a suburban brewer.

Goldfinger Pils



Long story short, this is a hoppy pilsner, more dry and bitter than most you'll come across. If that suits your taste, grab one.

Seeing some good albums in the Saturday Morning Flashback CD bin. Double year today, 1994-1995.

So far overcast and threatening rain - Mrs Lizard and I are heading to the local farmers' market to pick up some fresh veggies and maybe fruit - we'll see if bananas and pineapple are in season yet. Today's New Breakfast Beer is one I can't believe I've never had before, but my spreadsheets say "Never", so:



Pretty decent mass-produced porter - rating 3.95, rDev -6.2%.

My new beer is Bourbon Barrel Aged Scotch Ale by Central Waters , a wee heavy

Bottle purchased at historic Casanova liquors for $4.69/bottle, poured into a snifter

Appearance
Pencil thick fizzy taupe layer immediately evaporates to a ring over a dark cola like liquid

Aroma
Aroma is bourbon,brown sugar, dark fruits, raisin

Taste
Taste is bourbon, dark fruits, raisin, fig, toffee, vanilla, caramel, hint of nuttiness, hint of smoke.as it warms more dark fruits appear

Mouthfeel
Mouthfeel is lighter than other bourbon barrel aged beers, fizzy The Bourbon taste lingers . Booziness becomes more apparent as it warms

Overall
Good beer. Imagine a full flavored bourbon barrel aged stout but without the syrupy mouth feel. This is Definitely not a stout .You get to enjoy the full flavored taste but the texture is different, lighter

 

I am going to enjoy sipping on one beer with breakfast, then will head out to celebrate Record Store Day! I still purchase CDs. The frustration of getting the plastic off of a new CD, then the anticipation of hearing the album, while seeing the artwork, and reading the liner notes, will always be joyous for me! For anyone who may not have seen my previous announcement, we will be celebrating the life of @scream, starting at noon on 7/10/21, at 3 Sheeps Brewing, which is located just off of I-43, in Sheboygan, WI! A special commemorative beer will be brewed for the occasion, and here is a new announcement: we will be doing a bottle/can share! Bring a special beer or two to share, and join us for the celebration!

Good morning BAs! Today’s coffee comes courtesy of @mickyge - Springdale Beer Company’s “Barrel Aged Maple Brig”:



A double barrel aged (maple syrup and bourbon barrels) mocha stout, with coffee and lactose added. Thanks Mike for another new beer/brewery for me to try! Cheers gang!

Morning BA's and happy Saturday - already did a nice 2 miler with Emma at the local metropark, did laundry, some yardwork and now drinking this.....not too impressive sadly, but it is hydrating on this very warm and humid morning....

 

WooHoo....no work today. Three mile run done, lawn mowed and weed eating complete. Against the Grain Brewing Loo-a-vuhl as the pizza order is being compiled....
