Could be because by allowing no one more than two drinks they are mitigating the risks of that person getting behind the wheel of a car and being inebriated. Also perhaps to prevent people who maybe aren't driving from getting obnoxiously drunk.
I will say this, just because you can only get two drafts/pours that doesn't mean you can't stay and enjoy the grounds/vibezzzz.

You know, its easy to feel this way, but then i think, how many beers would i really have? When i go to other breweries, what do i have? 3 beers at most?

Maybe im abnormal, but like, i gotta drive home lol

2 16oz double IPAs have the alcohol of 5 cans of bud light, if that makes you feel better

They have a variety of pour sizes. You could always vary those and split the beers between friends. Then you’d be able to try a bunch of different beers.

I never get the sense they’re trying to rush people out. I was there on Monday and it was very relaxed. Also, I usually don’t slug back the beers if I’m limited to two as I’m not looking to get drunk and occasionally I’m the driver. Simply enjoying getting out of the house. Like others have said, the limits help with crowd control, behavior, and liability.

They’re also the brewery that probably gets the most foot traffic in the entire country. The “campus” is built to handle that.

Haven’t been there since reopening, but if you are buying tickets online I am thinking it would be very difficult to manage people only getting 2 beers…

That is definitely a valid point and I rarely have more than 32 Oz of beer at a brewery, but with a "destination" brewery like Tree House that is also a 6 hour drive for me I would want to make it worth my while.

I'm sure I can find this somewhere but I'm lazy, are they back to selling single cans/have the removed the case minimum for to-go from Charlton?

Not sure of a case minimum, but I believe the $65 spend minimum is still in place. No single can sales, but more variety in the 4-pack cans available. Whereas the core beers remain locked in a full case or one of the mixed case packs.

Went today and pretty wowed by how the expansion over the last 2 years is paying off. There is an unbelievable amount of room for people now and it was nice that even on a day where the pour line is a half hour, upon getting my draughts I instantly have 10 options of where to sit both shaded or sunny. And it's really scenic, too, the kind of place where you actually look forward to bringing your dog rather than just hoping they tolerate it.

There are a few things that I hope get ironed out as they settle back into the swing of in person service. Had an overall awesome day and none of these are dealbreakers by any means, but things that I feel like could (and probably will) reasonably get better in the coming months:
    • The new can system struggled a bit with how busy it was and you run into some of the respective downsides of both the pre-COVID system and on the fly. Instead of waiting for a while to put your order in and have it made up right away, you now wait for a while to tell them that you're here to pick up the order you put in online, then wait for another while in a lump of a crowd for it to be put together and your name to be called. I do like preordering on my phone instead of the golf pencils and slips, but if we're going back to waiting 40 min+ in a standing line for takeaway I hope singles and the lack of $65 minimum also return.
    • Feel like there's probably further room for some kind of virtual check-in and text message alert when your order is ready. And it's probably a fair tradeoff to cut down idling emissions, but it'd be awesome if some kind of in car to-go line still existed.
    • For pours, not much struck me as bad about the current setup, but it is going to be SO much better when both bars are live and if/when the separate coffee bar returns. With one bar and a full house, it was prob about 30 min from walk up to drink in hand. Not bad but kind of forces you to get both at the same time lest you'd rather wait twice or forego beer 2. Could totally see more points of service on busy days paying for themselves, and seating capacity is no longer a bottleneck to account for at all.
    • Last, I'm sure there is some kind of legal reason for it, but slightly bummed to see the 'no beer beyond this point' signs at every trail entrance. Was looking forward to the Asheville Sierra Nevada experience where there is a ton of woodland walking paths where you can sip your pint. At the moment that is right in front of you but not allowed.
Will be back sooner than later, but interested to see how things look by the end of the summer as there's definitely room for adjustment. Somewhat of a contradiction between how much they've designed it as a place people would want to spend a ton of time at, but then a lot of the logistical factors that make it so much of that time is spent in line.

thanks for the detailed description on the new system. The 30 minute waits to get a pint are why I won’t go on a weekend day. Besides more bars / bar tenders there’s probably not much else to do.

    Hello Everybody,

I have a friend who went to visit family in Cape Cod and she offered to pick up some beer for me. How easy is it to navigate pick up at the Sandwich location?

    Thanks Everybody

Wait, so let me get this right. If I want a can of Julius to-go from Charlton to drink at home, the only way I can do that is if I buy a full case of it, or a full-case mixed pack that contains Julius?

    Oof.

I could be wrong, but getting the cores in smaller purchase format remains out of reach and that’s how I understand. Hence on my last visit I didn’t leave with any core beers.

Green was in 4 packs yesterday. Think we're coming up on the tail end of Julius cases but who knows.
