Got to open a Hypermash Hydra this past weekend and its drinking fantastic right now. Definitely recommend popping one soon if you've got any left!

More a suggestion, but I do have a difficult time believing it'll taste much better than the one I just had. It's still blended perfectly but the coconut was strongest (which is the flavor I personally preferred over the cinnamon/coffee component). Who knows, I have 2 left and I may sit on one of them another year or so, For Science.

For anyone looking for bottles of Arcane Ritual, there was about a case and a half at Total Wine Laguna Hills this afternoon. Special release section on the top shelf.

I was also very happy to find four packs of Lagerithm in the cooler!

Revisiting the Arcane Rituals talk, I don't recall getting specific notes of peach in the few bottles of b1 I had (and I definitely double, triple dipped on that after getting my first taste of that beauty), but b2 definitely has a sweeter, brighter accent right up front, which adds a really nice contrast to all the deeply complex notes it still retains from b1.

Damn fine beer and still one of the best I've ever had!!

Apologies in advance for a random unsolicited story that has nothing to do with b2. One of the beers I’ve enjoyed most in my life was Flesh to Stone, which apparently was Arcane Rituals finished in peach brandy barrels. I chanced upon it at the Civil Society taproom in West Palm Beach, of all places, on a trip for work in February 2020 before the world went to shit. Completely eye opening.

If b2 were given that treatment and bottled I’d be tempted to fly to CA to obtain it.

You are not wrong. For the Toronado BW Fest, pre-pandemic, they had ADWTD TO, Anabasis b4, VSOJ, and like 40 other barelywines on. At the end of the day, for me it came down to VSOJ and Flesh to Stone. Both were mind blowing in there own way.

And yeah, AR b2 has a bunch of peach on the back end. It's pretty awesome!

Anyone else try Currant War? I thought they again nailed the description of it, loved all the floral notes and but to me it went straight from floral to earth and skipped the jam. Maybe I didn't let it warm enough, but I'm curious to hear other peoples take on it.

So happy to finally track down a bottle of AR B2!!! Based off of the comments here, I can't wait to try it!

Has anyone tried Mass Action yet? I have been trying to track down a few bottles since banana and coconut are my jam in stouts, but I've had no luck. Need to know if I need to continue to make the effort...Ha!

I was not a fan of CW. Too tart for my tastes and the flavor generally was not appealing anywhere along the route from cold to outdoor temps. My buddy said it reminded him of medicine he took when he was a kid.

I really enjoyed MA on tap and bought a couple of bottles. For me it was mostly marshmallow with a little bit of coconut on the initial sips, which then faded into only marshmallow as it warmed. I only got the tinniest bit of banana once it was up to room temp, which I was fine with as I still haven't found a banana-fied beer that blows my mind.

Also, on a side note, it looks like as of yesterday BL has re-opened interior seating. Buddy posted pics of the seats being back at the bar with people saddled up in them. I'm personally still not yet comfortable drinking/eating in indoor spaces, so I'll stick to the patio for now if possible. I just hope they install misters or fans or something as we move into the summer months to help cool it down a little.

I loved Mass Action. I didn't get much banana. I know some people were expecting Equivalent Dose banana and it wasn't close to that.
It was actually my first beer on tap since everything shut down last year. I bought my bottles on the Sunday it came out, got there at opening and it was pretty dead. Sat down and had a pour.

MA was good but I basically got a little whiff of banana on the aroma out of the bottle and that was it. The rest was coconut and marshmallow. Wasn't bad at all, but wasn't the banana forward experience I was hoping for.

My experience with Mass Action was completely different. Had that banana-runts flavor dominate the bottle I opened. Coconut was subtle on the finish and didn’t notice the marshmallow.

This sounds like the best possible scenario for me with this beer. I was over 'banana stouts' about 1/2 way into my first one--and then 20 more breweries released their own versions, lol. If the banana is faint, I might be able to enjoy this one more than expected. Love marshmallow and coconut in stouts

If you have any, or know of any, banana-bonanza stouts to get my fix, feel free to let a brother know. :+1:

I never got into trading since there's a lot of good beer in Southern California. Just been sticking to my local watering holes.

There may be recent examples, but I think you are mostly about a year late. A lot of breweries put out banana-heavy stouts last year--MT, HPB, GC to name a few. Amazing flavors, but best in small doses, imo.
