I think the bolded is especially important. Besides the potential for floaties the haze itself in Heady was still seen as a flaw by a lot of very vocal drinkers. Even some of the earliest reviews of it here are docking look points with no mention of floaties but just for being hazy.

Haze of course became a huge topic of debate even as the style started to spread more around 2013-2015, and the complaints weren't of the "there's way too many/they all taste the same/they cost too much" grumbling you see about NEIPAs today but instead a number of people insisting that the beers were inherently flawed and unfinished. I remember the kerfuffle that resulted here from Jason criticizing a Hill beer and Melcher Street as being unfinished/muddled due to their appearance, and that was still just 5 years ago.

unfortunately, for better or (mostly) worse, the market has already spoken.

…Canned Thursday and by Monday it is gone. I hope this is an anomaly and not the new norm because of supplying two other locations. Would have thought they would increase production in tandem, but that does not appear to be the case?

Seems less than a month ago people were griping about old cans still being sold when a new batch came out. Now the cans don't last long enough, and they cost more than Heady & Floatcal Banger.

Give me a heads up when I'm supposed to gripe that I can't buy singles again. I don't want to miss that wave, that should be a good one

Aw yeah, let's get after it. Not the end of the world if they don't come back, but I always appreciate when breweries offer singles and TH was no exception. They have like 20 different beers on any given day most of which I either know are good or haven't had yet, never gonna complain if I can try more of them without spending a fortune.

Not entirely different than how I feel about the minimum - am I spending more than $65 on most trips anyways? Yes. But do enough of my weekend plans bring me to Salem or Portland or VT that my fridge is ever presently full I'm more inclined to only want a four pack or two at a typical brewery stop? Also yes.

When you go back inside you'll see that they've expanded their number of tanks by a lot, plus they said they'll be brewing in Deerfield. I think it was an anomaly, plus people like SS and it hadn't been brewed in a while.

    Double post fail but…

Nate just tweeted that this past weekend was their busiest ever, including all holidays. That’s nuts and will only get busier. Here’s to hoping the 2 large bars are open at all times going forward

Yeah but that was more in the geekier circles, when American IPA was pushing its harsher, more bitter, tongue assaulting, palate wrecking, mouth bleeding nonsense and the craft beer logic at the time was that's the only direction it could or should possibly go.

Hazy beer isn't new, though, and has centuries of precedent. From hefes, dunkels, Belgian dubbels or quads by some (not all) breweries, and more. And it wasn't the broader public trying to push NE IPA out, in fact, they were more likely to accept and consume it more readily.

That said, I'd never have called anything by Alchemist hazy. While clearly (lol) things have finally improved--and I can't believe how long it took and how little flack they got for it--any way you slice it their beer always did look unfinished. Whereas the haze that started at Hill was quite beautiful, even early on.

The real (and almost forgotten) question: will one of these bars finally be dedicated to growler fills? Still feels like a ways off but I can't wait to bring home a few from their draft system.

They would need a completely separate bar for growler fills and the options would have to be limited to avoid a massive CF within the building.

Line for cans, line for pours and a line for growler fills. It's literally going to be the Disney World of beer... Maybe the new building by the old lower parking lot is going to be a growler filling station

My annual reminder that I have three (4?) Brimfield growlers with which I am willing to part. I know people collect this kind of stuff — I’m just not one of them.

Super sap still available at Deerfield.

Wonder if "satellite" locations will ship some product back to mothership to increase diversity of selections at Charlton.

doubtful, I think they'd rather use it as a draw to distribute customers and lighten load on Charlton. Deerfield often has higher maxes (4 cans vs 2 cans) on the super premier stuff.

Heading up to Maine on Thursday, can anyone comment on how the pickup line will be around 2-3pm?
