Haven't seen anything recently posted so was wondering if anyone had recommendations for the San Francisco area for some good brews. I definitely have Cellarmaker on my hit list but other than that I have no knowledge of what is good in the area now. I will have a car rental so welcome to making local trips as well!
Cool, thanks! What are the best beer bars in the area? Already planning on doing Toronado and was wondering if there were any other similar spots with constantly rotating and quality draft lists? Any places to get Homage on tap?
I second City Beer Store. That's my go-to unless I'm looking for a special bottle. I'll add the Mikkeller Bar as another good spot. For local trips, depending on your definition of local, the obvious trips are to Russian River Brewing to the north, and Sante Adairius to the south. I don't know if I've seen Homage on draft anywhere in the Bay Area apart from special events.
Faction for solid brews and great views. Haven't visited their location, but I enjoy many of the brews I've had from Temescal. I've found the food, taps, and to-go cans solid at Crafty Fox.
Toronado is always my go-to but I’ll give some love to Old Devil Moon if you’re looking for a more understated venue (with food!) in SF.
Old Devil Moon amd Cellarmaker house of Pizza, arw walkable to each other. Plus, Holywater bar is close by as well.
That being said... Cellarmaker (Howard St.) and Cellarmaker House of Pizza are not the same. There are more taps and more barrel aged offerings at Howard, so I'd go there if you want to experience the gamut of Cellarmaker beer lineup. But House of Pizza will have some guest taps (although do they still with the Covid stuff?) so there's that.
I really liked Fool’s Errand for drinks and State Bird Provisions for an awesome Michelin star experience with a solid beer selection. Had SARA and Moksa on tap with my food.
Alas, Mikkeller Bar is history, folks. Pity. Was pricey, but great selection and good food. State of the Art draft system.
Mikkeller is back, with new management. Their official re-opening is at the end of this month (7/27), but they are soft-open: Mikkeller Bar SF (@mikkellerbarsf) • Instagram photos and videos
That is WONDERFUL news, assuming it's true. (Instagram photos don't tell me much, but then again I'm not on social media.) I googled and I see something from Brewbound, posted last December. It mentions reopening in Jan or Feb, which obviously didn't happen. Do you have anything more solid? A press release or announcement from Mikkeller? Where did you find the information about reopening at the end of July? Thanks
Don't know difference between soft and full re-opening at all, but I definitely stopped in and had drinks and food a couple weeks ago.
