Had my usual three brews for the night. Filling for an old man.

For dinner, having wild caught Alaskan salmon and a bit of mixed vegetables from a local farmers market. Sorry, but having wine with it. Lots of wine unfortunately. But thankfully no bourbon.

Wife’s birthday tomorrow. Going to daughters Saturday for a cookout. I will post food and beer pics.

Very much so. The 2014 is way more "traditional barleywine" -- dates and figs and caramel and toffee, oak (even though it's not barrel aged). The 2021 is lighter, dryer, and has a strong hop bitterness. Both very good, though.

Another Breakside Wanderlust IPA since the wife is on the phone with a friend of ours who takes a minimum of 1.5 hours. Yay for beer. Cheers.

Bags are packed. Chattanooga, TN Seneca, SC and Ashville, NC over the next six nights and days. Mostly centered around my daughter and college lacrosse recruiting, but she's doing a showcase at Clemson for three days. My wife and I will be hanging out together in Ashville during that time and it should be fun. Cheers all!

I have a couple of BCBS with a few years between them. I plan to do a side by side when the weather gets cooler.

Have a good weekend my friend.

Long day turned even longer…one of my tires picked up a nail along the way and was flat by the time I reached the hotel this evening. Good Sam Roadside Assistance found an after hours guy who swapped out the tire in a jiffy. Now sitting outside and drinking a Psuedo Sue:

Canned 6/3/21. Poured at 52°. This can is mellower and not as green/astringent as the draught I had earlier at the brewery. Yay!, the night is looking up on all fronts. Cheers from Decorah IA!

So @Blogjackets sent me some super beers. I have my order of events:
    1. Drink this Brew Kettle Tunguska now. New brewery and beer for me. Char roastiness aroma from about six inches away. Pours super dark ebony with a dark tan head that fades to a lace island. Flavor is highly roasted dark malts, a slight alcohol bite, and a subtle bitter finish. Mouthfeel is heavy full (like my crash cymbals!), with a fair amount of creaminess. Alcohol buzz hides well. Overall, solid dark brew! Reminds me of something…I’d have to check reviews, but maybe 2SP the Russian? In any event, this would be an excellent choice for a daily sipper, especially in the cold seasons.
    2. BBA Brick Kiln. Truth be told, I wanted to pop that first. The Jackie O’s BBA stouts I was able to score are all delicious, but I missed out on any barleywine choices. Closest non-stouts were the Wood Ya Honey and Skipping Stones, but that’s not BW. BBA BK will be a weekend treat. Getting cold in the fridge now.
    3. Bell’s Vanilla Black Note. I could not score any locally when it came out, as supply was smaller than an ant’s leg. Now I have it, plus a ‘17 and ‘18 Black Note. Seems like a good quasi vertical, but whether I get someone to enjoy those with me…well, those might sit in the special fridge for a bit if I can’t.
    4. Black Mask. I really enjoyed that one, so that will be a bottle share at band practice. Just found out the guitarist likes good coffee stouts, so he’ll be in for a treat.

I’ve only had Adroit’s heavy hitters, all of which I thought were excellent representations if their respective styles. We don’t see them much here in WBAYDN.
