That's fair. I didn't specify that only the second digit matters for the year since that's the only way it can be applied to both codes unless it is the best buy date and for 29204 it meant 2029 But that's just a theory anyway. Might worth asking B United who imports Reissdorf.
Really? Well if I had known that I would have asked last time I was at OEC. A question for next time then.
FWIW -- I bought some of the new Radeberger Zwickel this past weekend and the date coding on the can bottoms reads: P: 10-12-2020 E: 10-03-2022 Not exactly 15 months, but not quite 24 months. Very odd dating.
I just woke up and realized that's probably flopped, Euro-style dating -- 10th of December packaging, 10th of March expiration -- apologies for my confusion.
Warsteiner has a best by date, but what is the time from packaging to the best by date? One year, I assume?
Anyone have dating info for Weltenburg? I picked up a 4-pack of the Anno 1050 yesterday and the coding is one of the odd ones (010116). I'm pretty confident it's fresh because it wasn't in store a few weeks ago (but trust no distro). Planning to give it a try this afternoon, was a favorite when it was available more often, hope it's the same as it ever was.
I need help...don't we all? Bought a bottle of Weihenstephaner Kristall Weissbier, but I have no idea how old it is. The numbers on the back label are 3450 and 09:47:44 (which I assume is a time stamp) Thanks!
That bottle was packaged on Nov. 3 2020. "Weihenstephaner: Filling (bottling) date on the label. For example, 7038 translates to the 7 being the 7th or 17th, 03 is 3rd week of the year, and 8 is 2008 so it was bottled on January 17, 2008." Cheers!
Weihenstephaner is listed in the first post of the thread -- DWWY = 3, 13, or 23rd day of month - 45th week of... 2000? Oh yeah -- best before. Very "vintage."
I have yet to figure out weltenberg @steveh i was hoping I’d be able to as stock filtered but unfortunately it’s the same code on the anno 1050 as it was last august
Are you serious??? I'm taking that shit back! I haven't had that style before and was looking forward to trying it. That's messed up if it's really that old.
One of the hazards of single bottle sales. Lots of shelf turds. Anyone else out there can check my math, but look at the first post by @Jacobier10 .
FWIW I drank a korbinian from November 2020 (like your bottle) and it tasted just fine. You may be surprised if you crack it open. It couldn’t have cost that much did it? **edit I’m not sure whose post you saw first but it’s from 2020 as @JackHorzempa said. Not from 2000
That would be my gauge. Then again, Krystal Weizen is a pretty delicate beer. Best by date nearly a year past.
That was my typo -- it's probably 2020 (the zero being the designation for either), but it's still almost a year past best-by -- which is probably 2 years past bottling. Does the beer look hazy in the bottle?
