Fall Beer Sightings? (2021)

Victory Festbier release weekend Friday at 4 PM…

 

Found paulaner marzen and Oktoberfest bier. I also pick up a six pack of hacker pschorr marzen

 

Check dates? I think only Paulaner is available year-round (in select locations).

No matter the "creep," it seems early for H-P (or late).

 

It was mentioned by @beeragent over in the Southwest version of this thread that H-P appears to be more closely matching the year-round model of Paulaner Marzen. I found the 2021 bottles last week as well, and judging by the end cap they were on, it seemed like they had been here for a while.

 

Spotted Shiner Oktoberfest in Columbia, MO yesterday.

 

A few years ago the H-P was year-round, then they switched to Paulaner. It's possible they've switched back again.

Or it's possible they've finally just started brewing one big batch and running it to separate bottling lines.

They're brewed in the same brewery and the past few years have been difficult to tell apart.

Definitely the early birds this year. The Festbier is not available year round.

FWIW -- I just checked the local large liquor retailer and their website says "Unavailable, Fall Seasonal" for all three.

 

Knowing this, I did a blind tasting and found them easily distinguishable. Maybe just a batch variation but I was surprised. Both BB 3/22

 

I did the same last year and could taste subtle differences, but I wouldn't have called it easy.

@AlcahueteJ -- was it Paulaner & H-P we danced around last year, or another brand? Maybe the Paulaner Fest & Marzen?

 

The store I bought them at said they were surprised to see them this early and the cans appear to be new for this year paulaner recently posted about them on there facebook. Last year I only seen 1 liter cans that came with the paulaner mass. I’m pumped to have found the new 500ml cans it’s definitely a top 5 beer of mine

 

Just what I want when it’s 100 degrees in NJ.

 

The Paulaner Wiesn Fest or Weihenstephaner's Festbier might not be so bad. Those kind of Festbiers are often served at festivals year-round in Germany.

But just wait -- you opened the door for all the hard-ass tough guys who tell you they have no problem guzzling Guinness Extra Stout on the beach.

 

Wait… Paulaner put their marzen in half liter cans?

I just received a newsletter from Bell's. Their Octoberfest is being released this week into distro. (Double Two Hearted also.)

 

Means I'll probably see it in time for actual Okto season. Lotta Oberon still around (which isn't a bad thing).

 

Ask and ye shall receive…canned 3/22/21.
