I rarely buy one specific beer by the case. About every two weeks I do visit one of my local breweries who specialize in lagers and buy a case of assorted lagers.

A recent post by @Tucquan in the Hard Seltzer thread reminded me of the aspect of case discount. Below is an extract of that post:

“This retailer has been offering me very good case discounts on Lawson's and other beers.”

Below are some examples of case vs. six-pack prices at my local Retail Beer Distributor for a few craft beer brands:

    Fat Heads Head Hunter: $45.99 per case (1/4th = $11.50), $12.99 per six-pack

    Heineken: $33.50 per case (1/4th = $8.38); $9.99 per six-pack

Yuengling Traditional Lager: $26.49 per case ($6.62); $6.99 per six-pack

As can be seen in each of these three example you save money via purchasing by the case; a financial incentive for those consumers who enjoy drinking many of the same brand of beer.

    Cheers!

I haven't bought a case beer in ages.

Probably not since 20 years ago!

Is this still a thing in Pennsylvania?

I buy cases of cheep swill on occasion (for large gatherings and for home), and every year I will special order a seasonal or two from my favorite breweries.

More typically, I buy a couple of different 12-packs (N.R. or Cans) a week, as that’s the format that the industry made the move to back in the late 1990s.

Recently posted and said I only buy one beer by the case - Pizza Boy’s Sunny Side Up.

Been itching for a lighter, easy drinking beer such as a Pale Ale and Pizza Boy just released one in cans. The price? $34 for a case of 16 oz cans. No doubt had to pick it up. That’s cheaper than getting 2 4 packs at the local brewery here. Couldn’t pass up deal like this one.

Well, the results of the poll is that > 30% of BA beer consumers purchase by the case. Perhaps that is the "thing" in PA for BAs?

    Cheers!

So much stuff out there I almost never buy more than a 4 or 6 pack of anything. I used to.

Stores I shop at don't offer a discount on a case (or even sell beers packaged in a case aside from AALs), so unless I really want 24 of the same beer I usually buy 6 or 12 packs.

At home I never buy cases. Sometimes a six-pack to get a glass

Normally I only buy cases when in Belgium. Beers like Orval or Duvel and sometimes Westvleteren (when I'm lucky).

These beers stay perfect over the year, some even only get better. It is way cheaper (especialy the Westvleteren ofcourse).

I like variety so I do not buy too many cases. However, I do make an exception with Weihenstephaner Hefe & Original; and Paulaner Hefe and Salvatore, the latter two when I can find them fresh.

Mostly in the summer. I’ll get cases of something like Jacks Abby Post Shift Pils that I know I’ll want when it’s hot.

This is my 3rd reply, but I have to assume some people buy cases for the same reason I do.

The last time Pizza Boy had Sunny Side Up in cans, I believe they charged $20/4 pack and a case was $64. If you enjoy the beer (it’s my favorite), mathematically you’re wayyy better off buying a case. Plus it’s an imperial stout, so it should hold up well for a few months in my fridge.

Just picked up Slice and Dice Pale Ale there as well. A 4 pack is $12 and a case is $34. This was a no brainer especially since it was a week old. Don’t drink much anymore, but think I can put this down by the end of September.

Same with any Pizza Boy beers really. Check out their site. A case is usually around half the price it would be if you bought 6 4 packs.

Could always just get a few cases of different stuff and split them with people.

I honestly only buy cases when it’s a mixed case from Tree House but I suppose that doesn’t count, so I chose no. Even when I do that, it is not often. I like to try singles of new beer and 4/6 packs of ones I know I like
