So... yet another week without Shakes. Are they done for? Was there some issue with Omnipollo given the problems at Tired Hands? I don't remember Shakes not being brewed for so long before.

Also: Fuzzy Green is a great summertime beer.

We were just talking about this. What’s up with no shakes?

A Strawberry Lemonade NEIPA isn’t enough for you? It’s gotta be lactose?

My guess is it has something to do with Omnipollo asking them to not?… although, I thought their involvement was very, very minimal at this point (ie just their name).

Has Tired Hands made seltzer before, or is this what they are into in the post-Jean Tired Hands? No more milkshakes, seltzers instead.

They did quite a few seltzers with Jean at the helm.

Sadly, a ton of breweries are doing $eltzers.

Tired Hands addressed (vaguely, but at least to some degree) the "where is the Shake?" issue:

"we haven’t been brewing collab beers (shake included) for a while as we sort some things out internally. We hear you all loud and clear, though, and we thank you so much. ❤️"

Agreed. Not sure why, maybe their business agreement has lapsed? Has to be related to an issue with Omnipollo.

Have they brewed a shake since the ratmagnet stuff? Maybe Omnipolo doesn't want to be associated with Jean after that.

They have not released one since then. Assumably they had some brewed just as a matter of routine, so the fact that they haven’t released any and haven’t been transparent about it (when it seems like they’ve tried to be as transparent as possible elsewhere) leads me to believe it’s legal-related (either (1) due to Omnipollo, which I find a little dubious given how little they’re involved in the “Shake” brand these days or (2) specifically related to Jean, maybe?). I don’t have any other wild speculation, but others might.

Why sadly? If it allows them to prop up the bottom line and allows for some experimentation with beers that aren't going to sell through the roof, I'm okay with it.

Keep in mind the following is all coming from someone who knows next to nothing about brewing beer or making seltzers or running a business.
Because I would rather they continue to actually brew beer. Seltzers, to me, are for alcoholics who are also worried about their figure. Brewing seltzer is following the money which, for a business yeah it is a great idea. However, if there is a brewery out there who needs to lean on profits gained from brewing seltzers to either experiment more with beers or even stay afloat that should tell you all you need to know about that brewery.

I think it's hard to generalize about this one. There are some excellent breweries who don't necessarily need to brew seltzers, but can do good examples of the style and can profit from them. I don't think you can reasonably say Tired Hands or Trillium are "following the money" the way White Claw and the like are. I don't know . . . I'm a consultant who prefers to work with non-profits and socially conscious businesses, but I'm not above "following the money" every once in a while with a larger client with bigger resources. That doesn't tell you "all you need to know" about me, just that sometimes I choose the flexibility afforded by a profit-driven decision.

Some of of the most respected breweries in the country are also making seltzers. It doesn’t bother me. I just don’t order them. As much as we like to think of our favorite breweries as passion projects dedicated to nothing more than brewing the best beer possible, a brewery is also a business like any other when it comes to keeping the lights on.

Probably a better way of saying what I was trying to. Like when a really good actor takes a gig in a Marvel movie. Good for them.

I guess I have an opposing view because to me without the insane success White Claw and the others had the craft beer scene wouldn't be trying to ride that wave.
You're right about your work experiences and preferences, doesn't tell me a lot about you other than you are at least a bit altruistic, but I don't see that to be very congruent here. This is not a personal argument. My point is if a brewery NEEDS to lean on profits from selling seltzers in order to experiment with their beer brewing or to stay in business they probably need to be better at their core business.
I don't resent any brewery making a decision for what is in their best interest to make a profit or stay afloat. More power to them. There is clearly a huge market of seltzer consumers. Get that $$$. I'd rather places like Trillium, Tired Hands or Tree House get it than AB, Miller Coors etc. I just feel a bit disappointed when world class craft beer brewers who clearly are not in dire need of cash make that move.

Yes! Make them, someone will buy them, just not me.

And Yes! Robert Downey Jr is probably the best Tony Stark we will ever see. But he doesn't need that role to keep acting.

Yup. Lots of really good actors take parts in all kinds of so-so movies. Most actors want to work, and only the biggest stars can afford to be choosy. Some of the best, I think of the recently deceased Hal Holbrook, was in all kinds of bad movies and TV shows because he was first and foremost a “working” actor. He was quite candid about his early days as a struggling actor, someone who had little or no money. Working as a guest star on TV shows for decades also allowed him to do theatre which he enjoyed but was typically far from lucrative.!
