Interesting, I've been to Housatonic Brewing a couple of times, albeit not in a couple years, and I found all of their offerings mediocre at best. The only reason I went a couple of times is because we used to have an office in New Milford so it was an easy stop. I was surprised to see a high rating from them, but it was brewed elsewhere, so I guess that explains it! Seriously though, I always wish the best for these small guys and hope this is an indication that their beer overall has improved.

Another beer from my Barreled Souls Barrel Society haul -- Double Coconut Joy. So it's their Joy imperial stout (chocolate/almond/coconut) with double the coconut. As the name would suggest, lots of coconut. I'm not in love with whatever chocolate they used, it's very milk chocolatey and not quite sharp enough.

Still overall thrilled with their beers though, and being part of the Barrel Society is great. Highly recommended.

I lied. Pictures are always better. Really like Widowmaker. They have solid IPAs. This one is a tad thin but flavors and balance with the level of bitterness are really well done.

Tree House, One, IPA, 6.8% ABV

    Canned 7/8/21

“One is a throwback. It's the first in a series of beers where we reference old hand-written batch notes from our nascent days of existence. Here we have Julius scaled directly from batch notes on May 29th, 2012, in what would be the first commercial batch of Julius. It's hard to say if this will be a pure throwback, since our choreographed dance of brewing, which is so important to the outcome of a beer, has evolved over time. At any rate, this should be a fun one to try!”

I’ll likely do another can side by side versus a can of Julius I have in the fridge. Malt definitely speaking up here more than most tree house ipas, yeast taking a back seat (no melon, bubble gum, yes bitterness). Much more like the can of Sap I had recently. Presents more ipa than New England and or Tree House IPA. As a stripped down Julius, it will be fun to do side by side and hopefully blind.

    Finisher…

Tree House, Double Shot Trichromatic, canned 7/7/2021

“Double Shot Trichromatic is an American Stout made with our custom 4th of July blend, Trichromatic!

It is infused with both house-roasted and extracted cold brew and directly steeped on beans, lending to a depth of flavor and potency that is entirely unique to our program.

We taste dark chocolate syrup, toffee, and hints of fruitiness carried by a velvety and incredibly smooth mouthfeel.

    We hope you enjoy!”

First time trying this. Awesome brew. Ton of berry. Nice hit of citric dank to go with it. Nice way to top off a busy week.

Thought it was excellent. I enjoyed the cans I’ve had and draft was from years ago so no reasonable comparison there. As much as I love The Standard, while drinking R2R, had me questioning which was my favorite pour of the visit.

Went for this canned on 7/2 over March canned Erdinger. Wonderful, lively carbonation and quintessential flavors. A good, fresh and local option.

    Tree House, Juli-ish, canned 7/16/21

“Juli-ish was an inevitability for hot summer days. Crafted to be everything you love about Julius, but in a pale ale form! Juli-ish carries a glowing orange body and a uniquely fluffy appeal. Juli-ish oozes with notes of fresh-squeezed orange juice, sticky mango, and tropical fruit offset by an appropriate and thirst-quenching bitterness. Pale Ale nirvana!”

Went out to one of my favorite beer bar / charcuterie places in the Hudson Valley with my wife today. They had Of First and Last Things by Hill Farmstead on tap. Grassy, grapefruity, and bitter. Really enjoyable. They also had Tilquin Gueze on tap, however, that's not a northeast beer, so I won't post my picture of that here...

My wife and I also made a stop at Suarez before that. Grabbed some Palatine, Cabana and Fine Line Kolsch. I cracked open the Kolsch after mowing the lawn, and I have to say, it's a very refreshing beer, BUT, I'd take Exhibit 'A's Goody Two Shoes Kolsch over it. Exhibit 'A's is a bit more crisp and is $5.00 less per 4 pack.
