Recently found some in FL! Anyone know the numbers on this or if we should expect more?

i like this beer but it seems to me that some type of artificial, chocolate flavoring ingredient is included in the beer ala southern tier. anyone else get this from the beer?

I dont know the specifics, but I know we had it for a while here in Charleston (where its brewed by Evil Twin contract brewing out of Westbrook). It went away for a couple months, word on the street was it was a one and a done release, and next thing you know a new batch is back on the shelves. So no confirmation by any means, but it appears like it will be a consistent rotating release. Which is good, because its one of my all time favorite stouts, proably my favorite non- barrel aged stout to date. In fact, I picked another one up today to join the other two I have in my cellar.

Also, I have no idea on the bottle count of the latest release, but the initial release had quite a small bottle number. An employee at Westbrook posted the number, it was around 5,000 I believe.

Has been brewed for a 3rd time. 1st bottle count I can't remember but 2nd was about 500 cases give or take.

this is true. crazy thing is i opened my bomber about a week ago and drank maybe 8 ounces. i capped with a wine stopper and was not able to get back to the beer until a week later. it was still really good! like liquid chocolate. that's what made me think of whether there was some type of artifical flavor additive.

NO additives. Brewed with real coffee grounds and aged on whole almonds and vanilla beans

A new batch recently hit my area so I would assuming this will have a rotating release schedule. Great stuff.

You CAN get chocolate flavors without chocolate...and biscotti do not have chocolate in them...

No extract or anything artifical. There is the malt bill (one of the malts being chocolate malt among other specialty malts). Coffee is added to the kettle and then when it goes to the brite tank we add whole vanilla beans (no extracts) and whole almonds (again no extracts) and that's it

I could very well be wrong, but I'm pretty sure there is no evidence beyond subjective taste that ST uses artificial ingredients. I would say that, if anything, they use extracts to get the exact flavors they are striving for. A cursory Google search seemingly confirms this.

Still, please correct me if it has been proven or stated by a reputable source.

i honestly cannot state one way or the other whether southern tier uses artificial flavoring ingredients and i should have said so in my post . . . but it sure as heck tastes like they do.

as a side note i recently had vietnamese speedway stout and was told that the coffee is infused with cocoa nibs and lactose and that beer has a huge chocolate flavor profile - perhaps imperial biscotti uses a similar technique.
