Heh. Well, in other TG news, MD lottery is next week, with the bottle release the first weekend of August. $100 for two bottles.

It's one thing to sell it on-site, which really helps give friends and family dragged to an outing a nice alternative, as I've found here locally. But if they're trying to get into distro game, probably a tough sell.

 

"The 2021 Mornin’ Delight set is not pre-packaged." Guess the cardboard was getting to expensive or they are done acting like your getting something special.
But at the end of the day we all know TG barely makes a profit on these stout releases so I can understand...

 

I think that is the end game. Some rumors are starting to float around Decorah, that Clark is looking to sell some or all of TG in about 2-3 years.
(TG thinking atm) Might as well try to make something that might not turd on the shelf. People like seltzers right? Right???

 

They already did with Pompeii Beach. That "IPA" was straight up fruit soda.

My wife and I both "won" the MD lottery. Same thing happened in 2019. Long drive, but fuck it, why not?

 

No doubt. Just had one…could not detect the base beer, at all. I’m sure some folks like it a lot…it tastes really good. But I like fruit infused IPAs to still taste like an IPA with just a background hint of some blood orange or another fruit. This was a straight up beermosa, which is fine if that’s what you’re looking for. Pompeii is such a stellar IPA that I was hoping it would come through a lot more.

 

I won myself. first time ever..however I'm not sure I care enough to drive 5.5-6 hrs each way :/ I never win..so I usually am happy with the "We appreciate you!" email.

 

I didn't like it at all, but it could be that I was expecting a Mosaic forward IPA with some pineapple in it, when it tasted like Orange Crush with some pineapple juice. I didn't pick up any discernible beer quality in it whatsoever. It's a lower ABV than standard Pompeii, too, so maybe that says something about it.

Oh well. Live and learn. Should've just bought regular Pompeii.

I don’t get TG in Seattle so it was totally novel while in Omaha visiting my in-laws. Better luck next time.

 

I personally don’t think MD is worth the drive from Chicago. Is it the best non-BA maple coffee beer I’ve had? Yes…Is it significantly better than something local, say ISLBS? Not really.

Also, secondary on it in Chicago has leveled off significantly. You’re almost better off doing that unless you really want to visit the brewery

 

For beer itself, a trip to me isn't necessarily worth it anymore (for Mornin' Delight) to drive from Chicago. But they've put on a descent festival for that release and I enjoyed it the two years I went (before pandemic times). If they are doing something like that again, it's not a bad time but you'd probably want to stick around for the night if planning to partake in fest activities and have a few.

 

Yeah, I had it a couple years ago when it was on tap around town here in the Naperville area. 10 hr total drive, $100 for bottles, plus probably another $150 in gas and lunch. I"m coming off knee surgery in April so I'm trying to convince myself this could just be a road trip. But to your point just go to Mikerphone and have beer just as good. or I use that money for a PS5.

 

MD was on tap for a few months a little while nacl, it's really not that rare anymore. My advice... try to find a local kegging event and save the drive for something more interesting.

But this also come from a guy who drove 6 hours to grab Zeelander 4 packs so take that for what its worth.
