Heading to Lake Placid (from midwest), not sure how much time I will have to make my way into VT. Wondering if anyone can guide me in the right direction. Do I have to make my way to Stowe/Waterbury if I want to pick up cans of HT, Focal Banger, Sip of Sunshine? Or can I get some cans without going all the way to the sources, burlington area or south of burlington? Will be out there from a Monday-Thursday. Also, what else should I be looking to pick up out that way. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

You can definitely get cans of Heady & Focal Banger in Burlington. Sip of Sunshine you can get pretty much anywhere even on your way in PA or NY (although it might not be fresh as it tends to sit on the shelves).

You should be grabbing everything you see from Four Quarters.

Agree. I think people also sleep on Burlington Beer Co.

If you're looking for IPAs, there are plenty of high-quality breweries besides the ones already mentioned: Frost Beer Works, Foam, River Roost, Fiddlehead. I'm probably missing something. Although you can find many of these beers across the state, keep in mind that there are usually brewery-only releases at the breweries like Lawson's and Alchemist.

If you're going to Burlington, definitely check out Foam if you like NE IPA. Zero Gravity is good stuff, and you'll be able to find other beers from Lawson's besides just Sip of Sunshine. The Beverage Warehouse has a great selection of beer.

Following this thread closely as I will be heading up through Vermont (coming from Boston). Just a short 2 day trip with a 1 night stay over in Burlington. Not to high jack this thread but is this two way route good - going up stopping at River Roost then to Hill Farmstead to pick up cans/bottles (haven't been able to book an on-site reservation), then on to The Alchemist and finally ending at Foam, etc. in Burlington for the night. On the way back, hit up Lawson's and then head to Boston. Good route?

Depending on the day of week, you could even scoot down 91 and pick up easy cans at the Tree House in Deerfield after Lawsons. Late enough in the day, and you can add on Brick & Feather and Honest Weight.

If you like lagers, von Trapp is about 5 minutes away from the Alchemist. You can also hit Four Quarters, Fiddlehead, and Frost while in Burlington. Plus if you're in Waitsfield, I'd start with Mehuron's and Shaw's for Lawson's and other VT beers at great prices.

Four Quarters is across the river from Burlington in Winooski and easily accessible. Fiddlehead and Frost, however, are both about 20-25 minutes south of Burlington (about 15 minutes from each other).

If you do go to Winooski (easy Uber from Burlington), Mule Bar usually has Hill on tap and a stellar tap list. Same for the Farmhouse Tap & Grill in Burlington. Depending on your timing, make a reservation for dinner at Hen of the Wood in Burlington. Easily one of the top 3 meals of my life (multiple times!).

Had it on tap last weekend at Middlebury Flatbread and agree 100%.

Depending on your entry route (ferries vs bridge) into VT you could hit Middlebury/Brandon instead of points north, and have some other delicious options with a similar trip time. (I was blown away by Red Clover when I visited recently) https://www.redcloverale.com/

I will second that emotion. I got to Red Clover for the first time recently and enjoyed their beers a lot. The only challenge is their limited hours so you have to plan accordingly (Friday, Saturday 12-7).

What stores are the best bets to get Alchemist beers in Burlington?

You can get the stuff almost anywhere that sells beer around Burlington. You’ll be tripping over it. No kidding.
