Class action settlement for Massachusetts Guinness drinkers

Time to back up the Brinks truck! What are we entitled to? 99 cents? I guess that would buy me an Arnie Palmie...

EDIT: 50 cents per 6 beers purchased up to $10 per household. Nothing like a good ol fashioned class action payday.

 

Even without proof of purchase, you need to know the month and year of each purchase claimed? And then attest that it is true and accurate under penalty of perjury? Yikes...

Who started this lawsuit? No one who ever paid any attention -- especially here at BA.

Imagine if he ever hears about FES and all the places *that's* brewed.

Do it at the wrong time during the consumption process > lap full of (Canadian-brewed ) Guinness Extra Stout!

Wasn't the ES made in Canada way back in the late 80s? Could swear I remember "reading" that on the label back then.

 

I once received an AirAsia voucher in a class action settlement that I had the option to trade in for cash, got a check for like $400. One of the other forums I post on, there's a whole crew of people who pretty much live off of these settlements, or so it seems. There are still a handful of people waiting on their tuna money since like 2012. Said tuna money has paid off like 8 dollars in most successful claims. The world we live in lol!

Huh, that is news to me and I'm on BA. I figured they were making and shipping beer in the US before the Baltimore brewery opened but apparently not. Pretty sly to do their business in New Brunswick to keep the "imported" language on the label.

I'm not even mad, that's impressive. And I totally know there was a Jackie Chiles attorney goading their client to push forward with this lawsuit:

"That's totally inappropriate. It's lewd, lascivious, salacious, outrageous."

 

They did - from late 1940s (when they took over the LIC, NY brewery of one of their bottlers, Burke) to 1954.

Yeah, maybe even longer, since the earliest citation I can find dates from 1980.

The version brewed by Labatt for the domestic Canadian market (5%) was even earlier - 1965. The first foreign brand brewed under license in Canada.

 

Tuna money? Is that one of those new cryptocurrency things!?!
