Just dropped in after work to pick up their two new releases, Swimming Upstream and Taste the Sound, as well as All Your Friends since they still had some and I've skipped over it the last two times I've been there. Almost rebought Bier because that's a damn fine helles.

    Some first impressions/casual notes tonight:
All Your Friends... dry Sauv blanc character from Nelson and passion fruit from Galaxy in spades; clean, zesty lemon + lime character otherwise. Crisp, bitter and refreshing WCIPA.

Swimming Upstream... strawberry and passion fruit from Strata, El Dorado is more on the candied end with melon and Starburst, orange marmalade and tea from Idaho 7. Very juicy mouthfeel, a hazy crusher. Love the varied hop combo and particularly El Dorado usage here.

OC Fair traffic is really fucking up my vibe, even on a motorcycle. Gonna be glad when that shit is over.

Still have a can each left of Slagathor's Lair, It's My B-Day Gift To Me and Cheating Death awaiting proper notes. It seems like now there's never a time when I don't have a GC beer in my fridge as I'll buy just about anything they put out. Not a bad problem to have

For those heading to their Costa Mesa location for the wet hop cans of ASAP, it gone. Sold out. There’s still some left at the Orange location. I had to go to the Orange after CM. It wasn’t a wasted trip. Windsor had some Fremont F2F cans in man. Also RiiP’s Dank Poet cans.

Glad I got mine when I did then. Haven't sat down with it for more structured notes but my casual assessment is that it's a pretty nice one. Grabbed it along with Layers of Notes and some stuff from Windsor. It's never a loss going to either because the other will have something good to get.

So true with Windsor. They just had a ton of Cellermaker can drop late yesterday. HpH cans too. But I’m looking for that wet stuff right now.

I will add Gunwhale to make it a trio. I haven’t been in a very long time. They do have a few good beers. Bait Ball is one of their first ipa’s first brewed by Derrick Testerman. They definitely are better than Bootleggers down the street. Plus the interior is really nice. But I seem to over buy when I hit up GC & Windsor I don’t have any $$ left for Gunwhale pours or cans. :stuck_out_tongue:

Was just kind of thinking brewery + shop is a nice combo. I don’t want to disparage Hi and Ho though.

Urban Roots collab dropping tomorrow: an all-Citra hazy TIPA and a 10° Plato Czech-style lager. UR posted the info on their IG.

Very much looking forward to trying the lager. Both breweries have done well releasing their respective 10° Plato lagers.

Very happy with 2 Places at Once, restrained earthiness, a little grassy with a nice hop bite, but overall a clean, and crisp finish. Really good.

Also got to try their Oak Lager’d Festbier, which was excellent; freshly baked bread, mild tannin, with a velvety feel. Highly quaffable.

Loved Spinning the Elaborate Yarn. Happy to report that it’s still showcases BRE, big resinous energy, and some red berry notes. A personal favorite and one of GC’s best IPA’s.

Something I noticed when having the normal festbier and the oak one back to back was that the edges were smoothed out on the oak lager'd one. I wonder if that will still ring true when I sit down to write notes on them. Either way, both were great.

So for my bday dinner tomorrow I want to go to Green Cheek. My dilemma is I am the only beer drinker in my family and have two kids younger than 11.

Wanted to ask the group if brining the fam to eat on the patio with only one beer drinker still works.

I love their beer, and smash burgers so it’s the perfect spot for me.

    if not any other ideas?

Beachwood used to be the place but hauling the kids from south OC, Laguna, to LB is kinda a hassle.

great idea. So great I went there sunday night with friends and family to celebrate. On a side note I got a full pour of dawn to dusk. Got me a little faded after drinking some WC IPAs.
